  1. It depends on if he wants to win. The Nats don’t have the resources to build a winning team a give him 1/3 or 1/4 of the entire money spent on the team.
  2. So flipping awesome.
  3. This thread needs a better title Phillies make a Smooth Deal.
  4. Nah. By next year the Cubs will own an entire city block and more of retail and hotel. They will have enough money for anyone they want. Also, they will get a fat check for $50M from the sale of BAM they can salt away in escrow for a year.
  5. Technically he's their CEO (they don't have a GM yet!). I don't even know what CEO means in baseball front office terms. Though, they're not being run like a baseball team right now. It's purely a business right now down there in Miami. It's like Gordon Gekko bought the team and is breaking it up and selling pieces of it off to make a profit. Jeets is not a good Corporate Rader.
  6. Jeets is not a good GM. Great trade for the horsefeathers-birds
  7. Guessing that's including a premium to go play on a 96 loss team. I'm guessing this is a throwaway line, but I think the Phillies are going to be competitive in a very weak Division (-Washington).
  8. A ton of things had to happen to get to this point no reason to hate Heyward, plus we won a World Series. The Marlins might not have even been sold if Fernandez just decided to go home instead of jettying himself. I just want to add Stanton's dongs to our lineup, leave me alone about it, ok? Stanton is going to spend more time on the DL than he will be in the lineup over the course of the next three years. If he can't stay healthy when he's young, it's only going to get worse as he ages.
  9. Agree. Will be watching more late night baseball on EI.
  10. Yosh Kawano Most of the guys have no idea, but this post is funny AF.
  11. The Cubs #1 issue is they haven't been willing to pay the most. This isn't a problem in this case, though.
  12. How are you measuring fame or level of celebrity? I would argue Star players from good Cubs teams are every bit as famous as Yankee or Dodger superstars. The Cubs’ #1 issue has always been their lack of on field success. Wrong.
  13. Geography is a significant disadvantage if one believes the reports.
  14. Who doesn’t think Arietta is going to sign with the Cardinals?
  15. In my defense, I didn't want but I think I talked into to it by TT. I tried to find the posts that IMB is referencing but I couldn't find them. I'll take his word that I posted them.
  16. [spoil][/spoil] Nope.
  17. I didn’t want them to sign him in the first place. But I’m not going to blame him for taking money that way as offered to him. That’s on Theo. Somebody needs to show him videos of John Olerud.
  18. I hate when fans get mad at the player and not the team when a contract doesn't work out.
  19. any idiot knows the difference between a pen and pencil. He should have said No. 2 pencil lead and shitty hard as hell No. 1 pencil lead.
  20. Come again?
  21. Wood is amazing.
  22. I needed more options.
  23. Please make it happen! Indeed, they can have Schwarber.
  24. Also, he's not really a good manager.
