  1. A lot of the fanbase is not happy with the hire. They don't like the calling hooker stuff. There was a report this morning that Auburn wrote into the contract that he cannot tweet or post on social media without approval from the university. I think they boxed him in pretty well and lowballed him on salary. But if he starts winning all that will go by the wayside. They love their faux Christian coaches down here. He's definitely slimy, but so is Pearl. In Alabama, every rule and law is a suggestion or meant for other people.
  2. I don’t mind not signing Abreu. I think Mervis is the real thing, but I’m really hoping they target a legitimate #1 starter and another good starter. I don’t really know what to think about CF. A lot of money and not a lot of production out there. Obviously Turner or Correra would be great too. Turner first for me.
  3. Sums it up for me
  4. The jury is still out on Poles, but he will really have to nail this upcoming draft and free agency period because the Bears have next to nothing outside of RB, QB, and S. They basically need 15-18 starting players.
  5. Who would go on the right and who on the left?
  6. Hurts, Tua, and next year Young. Bama quietly Quarterback U.
  7. I only got to see the 2nd half of the UM/OSU game. I’d say they made a statement. The close win against Illinois really helped I think. This is the best coaching performance in Harbaugh’s tenure. Hat off to him.
  8. What does he know about the SEC? Maybe, LSU fans are the worst in the SEC, but there is nothing, and I mean nothing that even comes close to Columbus. They use to and might still have one of the fraternities who keeps a mannequin’s head on a stick with a rubber dildo sticking out of its mouth on the end of a 10 foot stick. Every home game they put the helmet of the opponent on it and parade it around High Street and the area around the stadium to the cheers of everyone, young and old. If you wear a jersey of the other team and you’re a guy you will get spit on multiple times. If you’re a female you’re name will be whore for the day. I’m just scratching the surface here. They aren’t fans, they’re anti-fans. They don’t love OSU as much as they hate the team they are playing. I've lived here for 15 years and have never seen any of this behavior. I wore a PSU shirt to an OSU game and people were nothing but nice. Your hatred for Columbus is as delusional as it is vitriolic You’ve never been to game or hung around campus then. After they lost to Michigan in 2000. I was at the library. My car was vandalized in Arps parking garage. All the windows were broken out and someone used a fire extinguisher to put dents in the body. Then the person set off the fire extinguisher inside the car. It was a powder based system. His hand prints were all over the car. When I called the campus police officer to report the crime. He walked around my car, saw the plates were Michigan license plates and started smiling. He took my information then said, you know you are from Michigan. He refused to take prints or give me a ride to my apartment at 11 o’oclock at night in fridges temps. This was before cell phones. Kirk Herbstreet had a popular radio show on local radio in addition to his other gig. He had to move due to harassment from fans. Don’t give me your lame ass horsefeathers. Columbus is a nuthouse as far as OSU goes. I got more.
  9. Take VERY much for what it's worth because it's from da Bum, but he grew up right by Purdue and always said Ohio State fans were by far the worst visiting fans he encountered. What does he know about the SEC? Maybe, LSU fans are the worst in the SEC, but there is nothing, and I mean nothing that even comes close to Columbus. 10. Reminds me of when the B1G first went to divisions and Iowa/Purdue was the protected rivalry game and everyone on both sides was confused. Closest team in your division...somewhat similar competitive levels. Where I live it is almost as close to Purdue as it is to Champaign and there is a fair amount of Purdue fans around. I think Purdue's style of "play" in the game this year against Illinois is going to create some resentment if it continues in the future In-state normally comes first. Purdue-Indiana, that's the rivalry. One thing I always found amusing when I was at OSU was how much they horsefeathering hate Michigan. I mean hate. Well, they hate everyone who isn't OSU, but the hate for Michigan is on another level. In Ann Arbor, they recognize OSU as their biggest challenge, but the stronger dislike is for MSU. However, similar to ND in Ann Arbor they generally consider themselves above everyone all the time about everything. Some not jokingly, compare UM to Harvard and MIT. They sell t-shirts that say; Harvard, Michigan of the East. I've never seen a worse college atmosphere than Columbus in terms of perspective on what college sports are. I live in Alabama and there are definitely some nutters at Auburn and in Tuscolusa, but it is nothing compared to Columbus.
  11. Saw a blurb in an article about Mervis in the AFL from some scouts. Said his defense was bad at times. Questioned his ability to hit a fastball. They said the pitching in the AFL was down. I know they know more than I do about baseball players and whatnot, but he obviously hit velocity in AA, AAA, and the AFL this year.
  12. UM/OSU - The game will be decided by how well Michigan can run the ball. If they can't run, they will lose by two touchdowns or more. They should hope for a bad-weather game.
  13. Bad defense on every play that possession.
  14. When does the show start? After Christmas?
  15. He's going to be their manager one day.
  16. 27 year old 2nd baseman who had a cup of coffee in the bigs last year? Ok baseball people, tell me why this is something to maybe get excited about. Seems like the kind of guy the Cubs already have several of. Basically .300 with a .370 OBP over his last 3 minor league seasons in AA and AAA, with his SLG being improving each year. Seems pretty damn redundant with McKinstry, Bote and Madrigal. I think Bote will be gone after today if he isn't already gone.

  18. there is a difference between learning how to win and knowing how to win. The former is an active process that can be objectively verified. The latter is a hypothetical construct and is an outcome measure of sorts. Learning how to win means not making the same mistakes, or trying something different in the same circumstance where you were unsuccessful in the past. Natural ability + good planning/practice + luck are also variables. So "learning how to win" just means getting better overall? Agreed. It has more face validity and sounds fancier.

  20. I'm not sure two to 3 mph is going to give him what he needs. I'd wager they are working on the consistency of the release point or some other mechanics to make sure he keeps the location consistent. His problem has been HRs and the HRs are coming from poorly located pitches up in the zone.
  21. College football needs to figure out a way for there to be two or three big regional games each week. I know a lot depends on what happens, but USC vs UCLA is the only game worth watching the entire day.
  22. Why do I feel like this is the same melody with different lyrics with the Ricketts? 2022 #1 hit: The time is not right to spend a lot of money. 2023 #1 hit: These guys want too many years Not a good way to start the offseason.
  23. Far be it from me to criticize the Ricketts for attempting to buy another business. However, I do question their commitment to the Cubs to winning baseball games. The Cubs are like the toy they are tired of playing with now and just want to see how much money they can extract from it for their next thing.
  24. I wouldn't mind losing a bunch of shootouts where the "future" guys all show out; then having the pick one before the packers and trading down to deny them the QB of their choice. Then they reach, overdraft a guy and get stuck in QB hell for ages. Don't they think they have their QB of the future right now, in Love?
  25. It would be so incredible if Michigan slows the game down enough to beat them in Columbus. There will be many tears and couch fires a plenty off of High street. My schadenfreude would be off the charts too.
