  1. horsefeathers yea! The Cubs found another starter.
  2. wrong.
  3. Just thinking about it though, Alcantara would be a somewhat humors trade. The 2nd time he was traded for an aging 1stB who was the face of the franchise and would be going back to NYC albeit for the other team. Sort of a bookend deal.
  4. It's all speculation. We shall see.
  5. Makes no sense to you. Makes plenty of sense to Cohn and their front office. He's a guy who by the end of his career will be close to 500 HRs if not over. He's the face of their franchise and a fan favorite. Cohn obviously does not care about the dollars. So, trading for him is going to require some pain. I also assume if they traded for him, they would work out an extension with him, because the price for a rental isn't going to cut it for the Mets or the Cubs or probably most other teams who are smart.
  6. They will keep him then.
  7. Alonso is going to tank HRs well into his mid to late 30s. I'm not particularly keen on giving up Alcantara for him. I'd bet the Mets want significantly more than that. If Jed trades for him, I'm going to be mostly happy, but they will likely be doing significant damage to the farm. I suspect the Mets would want more pitching than hitting though.
  8. You're really talking yourself out of this trade. I think it's best just to say you don't want to trade the prospects for him. Your experiment is irrelevant.
  9. 1st base is the least important defensive position on the diamond when playing 80 games in Wrigley. I get not wanting to trade premium minor leagues for him given his age and position, but let's not make up excuses. Also, he can slide into the DH role pretty easily. He is a great fit for the Cubs, but the price may be too steep. If they're not willing to let Mervis grow into the position, they are going to have to find a 1st baseman. Playing Bellinger there is a waste of talent.
  10. Yes, he's traded exit velocity for bat to ball and it's paid off for him. He's also benefited from the shift restrictions as well. Not having a guy standing behind 2nd has added more than a few points to hs BA and RBI totals.
  11. Or analytic takes on basketball, who gives a horsefeathers.
  12. Why would the Bears make this move? I'm not following the need.
  13. Anyone want to hazard a guess what effect this may have on his impending free agency?
  14. They need to keep grinding wins. It would be nice to have a blowout (win) game this series and get the pen some rest. If they can remain in sweeping distance of the Brewers in the final series it will be one of the most exciting ends of the season ever. Their September schedule includes the Reds, Giants, and Diamondbacks. Take those series and they are most likely assured a spot in the playoffs. I want them to win the division. They have three against the Braves right before the Brewers. The Braves will likely have clinched by then so maybe they will be on cruise control.
  15. I had a meeting and had to miss the end of the game. A win is a win and cannot be taken away. Keep chugging along. This team reminds me of the Colorado Rockies team that lost to Boston in the 2007 WS. Not the same makeup, but the same type of team that just kept winning down the stretch until they found themselves in the WS. They were 90-73
  16. It's Ross's bag to let his starters go too long. He does it over and over again. It is known.
  17. Me no likey Rucker. Hopefully he can put a 0 up
  18. The entire complection of the game has changed.
