  1. McClain is now out and may be done for the season. I'm more worried about the Burgh than I am about the Reds (right now). This division is the Cubs to win. But somehow through devil magic the Cardinals are going to win 93 games
  2. For instance, an average fielding SS is usually an above-average 2B/3B/CF. Yeah, that's not true, it's an assumption. But like I said, I get the argument, I don't buy it. You're not going to convince me. WAR should be normalized by position so you are comparing apples to apples, not apples to pizza.
  3. The simple answer is that a DH has negative value to a team if he is only a DH. I have never liked any of the advanced defensive metrics or WAR based inflation by position. I get the argument, I don't buy it. If you want to say SS is the most valuable position, fine, but you still need 8 others, and not every ball is going to be hit there. Obviously, not everyone can play SS. Nonetheless, the position (not the player) is one of eight and a ****** defensive SS (the player, not the position) shouldn't be inherently more valuable than a good defensive 1st baseman who can dig out bad throws from the ****** SS.
  4. well this sucks and I'm already weeping about my sleeper.
  5. The Cubs own a sports book. That’s the irony of this story.
  6. Not enough people will appreciate this. Well done.
  7. Pittsburgh is definitely on the rise. It should be an interesting season. If Skeens and Jones have a good year that is a solid 1-2.
  8. Agree on the Dune II review. ST results may be illusionary, but the Cubs (likely to make the team) have looked great for the most part. This might be the swan song for Hendricks and I worry about the SP in general giving up too many HRs. But, the division is wide open. I’m more optimistic about this year than I have been in a long time.
  9. I don’t know how certain it is.
  10. Totally agree. The playoffs are about who is playing the best come playoff time. It’s two different seasons.
  11. He’s more like the trust fund baby that none of us ever knew because we are not in the .01%. Who thinks he worked hard and played by the rules to get where he got. He has no empathy because to do so would be to admit he didn’t earn a goddamn thing in his life and doesn’t belong except by accident of birth. And he doesn’t appreciate the help “cheating” to get by. Sammy should get in line and be thankful he got a chance. Instead he jumped the line and must now show repentance for his misdeeds.
  12. It will certainly be interesting as Williams has some of the same issues as Fields.
  13. I was living in NYC at the time. Dominicans would write his HR totals on their back windows of their cars with the flag. here is a link from 2012 from a bodega in the Bronx. He’s still a hero. http://brookeandphilsbigadventure.blogspot.com/2012/01/el-sammy-sosa-deli-things-you-find-in.html?m=1
  14. That’s a long way to get to the punchline but I like it.
  15. Presumably the Bears read the scouting report when they drafted Fields. So either they didn’t work on his weaknesses or weren’t able to overcome them. Additionally, they did him no favors by attempting to build the team up around him. I think they royally fucked him up, both through bad coaching and bad player management. I don’t believe in slow processing horsefeathers. It’s their responsibility to develop players and they didn’t. We will see if different coaching will help.
  16. Wow. I don’t know what to think.
  17. Adbert looking like a legitimate closer
  18. Marquee now doing infomercials in the middle of games. horsefeathers horsefeathers.
  19. They just showed Morel in Tempe. He hit the ball completely out of the park.
  20. Seiya with two HRs now.
  21. Suttcliffe is such a goober. Talking about Smyly blowing it past guys as he continues to get luck throwing fastballs down the middle of the plate.
  22. Suzuki Belli Gomes jacks
  23. Sharma think Suzuki is going to have an MVP type season. His spring has looked great. Just hit a HR.
  24. We are a week away from the start of the big league season and a few more from the minor league season. Who in your opinion is set to have a breakout (sleeper), who is currently not on the “I want to hang on to this guy” list that will be (keeper), and who is going to fall off the prospect radar (weeper). I’m not a prospect expert so I’m really looking forward to what others think. My sleeper: Davis - he’s fallen off the top 30 due to health. He’s going to mash AAA. My keeper: Pablo Aliendo - put on a lot of muscle this offseason. He’s a future big league catcher. My Weeper: Christian Hernandez. Too much swing problems.
