    A system that pays them a horsefeathers ton of money. You bitch all season about this or that, and every year it's the same whine that some team got hosed. Well, win your conference or division and you're in. I suppose some people just like to bitch. How many people in this very thread are complaining that five or whatever SEC teams are in the playoffs? Have Ole Miss join the Sun Belt or Oregon join some other conference. Winning in the regular season should matter.

    1) What? Ok, all games count. 2) No team from Conference USA should make the playoffs. Let me know when the Pac 12 has a football conference. 3) There are going to be blowouts anyway because the talent disparity in the NCAA is ridiculous. This may be a way for more teams to attract better players 4) The system doesn't work because a team like ND, which should be in the playoffs this year, gets left out because they refuse to join a conference. I don't care, find a way to make making the playoff objective,

    Agree. They showed they are not a flash in the pan. Caleb looked better as the game went on. He probably had some big game jitters. You can see he's buying into the system with the out of bounds throws. I love the direction this team is headed. If anything, I was most disappointed with the OL play. They did not have a good game. And obviously, the defense and defensive line specifically need to be retooled.

    They should get rid of rankings altogether. If you want to have a playoff: 1) Force ND to join a conference (they will get over it), 2) Split the big conferences into two, each division gets an autobid. Big10 - East Champ, West Champ SEC - East Champ, West Champ ACC - North Champ, South Champ Big12- East Champ, West Champ MAC - Conference Champion only Mountain West - Conference Champion only Sunbelt - Conference Champion only AAC - Conference Champion only That's it. No committee, no nothing. The names go in a hat, and first-round draws are made with Big Conferences getting one bye each. All games are played at a neutral site. If ND doesn't want to join a conference, give them the Donald Trump Participation Trophy every year.

    I would like it very much if they signed King and traded for Alcantara. I know Miami is under pressure to field a team and spend, so that’s probably a long shot. I also want them to get some more slugging. I do not want Suarez and I think the Cubs are not likely to do that.

    I'm not one to worry about the Ricketts money, but this trade seems like a waste of resources (dollars and players) for an expensive DH who will get a handful of bats a week.

    Apparently, if you believe the reports, Kiffin was trying to make a deal to coach the team through the playoff and the administration wanted him gone. That’s admirable. Also if you believe the reports, Kiffin was trying to take most of his coaching staff with him and the administration was paying them extra to stay… So, who knows.

    It’s a system problem. In other sports the talent distribution is flatter. I’m college football it’s concentrated. Every year there are a handful of teams in each conference that are better than everyone else. But (at least right now) the talent is getting more distributed with NIL money. One way to fix it would be to cap NIL funding and distribute more money from conferences to schools so each school has the ability to compete. Does anyone think that will happen, ever? So it’s probably best to scrap the whole system and use some sort of soccer style tier system and have the handful of good teams play each other during the regular season to see who gets into a playoff. Big10 teams beating up MAC schools and SEC schools beating The likes of Troy and Southern Miss are no fun. Most weeks there are one or two games worth watching in the major conferences. And some weeks there are none.

    Poles hasn’t lucked his way into this, but he’s incompetented his way into this and deserves nothing more than praise for doing the bare minimum and not saying no to an obvious choice to coach this team. The best thing that can happen is that Johnson takes more control of personnel decisions moving forward.
