  1. I read on Threads the JJ McCarthy is going to hold out if he doesn't get his full bonus in one payment. I wonder if this is the same issue the Bears are having with Caleb.
  2. read what you wrote again.
  3. I'm saying context is important and baseball is a team sport.
  4. I will gladly amend that to say the ONLY instead of Primary.
  5. I haven't done essentially that.
  6. because the team needs offense. Obviously the next post is, you can't have a guy who can't catch. Yes, I know that and that's not what I'm saying.
  7. who said it doesn't matter?
  8. I know. A guy who derives his WAR with his glove can have a high war. Put him on a team that is offensively challenged. He's not as valuable to his team as a guy with lower war who derives his WAR from offense.
  9. You do know that 50% is chance level. Thanks for making the argument but the study was already done by SBR.
  10. Not all WAR is created equal. He had a team that was 12 in WAR last year and didn't make the playoffs.
  11. That's not the argument.
  12. No, my point is that WAR should not be a primary consideration in building a team. Find the best players and don't get hung up how much a mythical number is worth in mythical dollars. Efficiency is not a goal, winning is the goal.
  13. Last year the Diamondbacks as a team were 15th in WAR
  14. No, because you are not quoting what I wrote. In the playoffs, there is no correlation between WAR and winning.
  15. no. That's not your argument. Or at least it wasn't at one point.
  16. Not gonna lie, the organization lacks power up and down the system. I know the CW is not to draft for need, but I kind of feel that’s what they did today. I don’t hate it. It will be interesting to see how much fruit it bears.
  17. Not to tangent this thread- the word Thug comes from a band of people in India called the Thuggies. The British East India company and the military stationed there invented them as a means for getting more money and supplies to subjugate the people of India. That is to say, there really were people called Thuggies -but they weren’t terrorizing the local population nor the British. It was all just more racist propaganda. The term is inherently racist. No blame to you Jh.
  18. I’ve had my eye on Teel for a while. Nico is more likely. I’m not sure how much trade value Morel has as a position player.
  19. There is no correlation between WAR and post season success. In other words a team with a higher WAR collectively is no more successful than a team with a lower WAR. Baseball is a TEAM sport. WAR is an INDIVIDUAL statistic with dubious value.
  20. No it’s not.
  21. India is a terrible defender. I'd rather take a gamble on Shaw at 3rd if he continues to hit for the rest of the year in AAA/Sept call up.
  22. His job is to make a team that wins games, not maximize WAR/dollars. That's part of the problem. Always looking for value leads to a mediocre team.
