  1. I rather have Sing play everyday in AAA than have him be our 5th OF.
  2. So refreshing to hear the truth. Darn right the White Sox have added some pressure.
  3. I hope this doesn't surprise anyone.
  4. I agree. This team may not be ready to win it all, but they actually might be fun to watch for a change.
  5. Sad but true. Despite my dislike for Rogers.
  6. I thought you all would get a kick out of this quote from Dusty from Cubs.com. Looks like Neifi in the 2 hole... Extra bases: Of the three second basemen in camp -- Todd Walker, Jerry Hairston Jr., and Neifi Perez -- Baker said all of them could handle the No. 2 spot in the order. "That's the most unselfish, smartest spot in the lineup," Baker said. "You have to be able to handle the bat. It's also a position that won't run as much because then they'll walk D-Lee. It's a position for a more established, accomplished veteran player." ...
  7. Not to be a hater, but I couldn't agree more with his assessment. He was a fraud who played those fans who worship the stars.
  8. You do realize that she is just a pawn for the cubs. http://www.cubs.com is a promotional website and everything is pro-cubs, everything is bright and good in cubsland. If you are looking for news, cubs.com should be the last place you visit. Take everything you read there with a grain of salt. Don't blame her, she is just doing her job. If she put more opinion and more negative spin on things (even if it is reality), she'd lose her job. Agree, however, I've found that other teams web site beat writers are much more independant and critical. Carrie is one of those writers who will write something critical only after the player is gone. i.e Sosa, Patterson, but will nbt challenge them in the present
  9. Thanks. I've been intrigued by him for a few years. He seems to put up decent numbers when he plays but never get's much pub.
  10. Whats the story with him?
  11. I still think Houston, w or w/out Clemens will emerge on top.
  12. I don't think he can. The Cubs problem is that almost everyone has been injured or has underperformed over the last couple years so their value is low. Conversely, the WS players have overachieved and it's giving Williams much better options. Over the past few years, Williams has sold high, Hendry has sold low. Its frusturating!
  13. I'm hoping that the organization has changed it's policy on reporting injuries. For the past three years, they have downplayed them which led to unrealistic expectations and angst within the media and fanbase. I hope now they realize it's better to set the worst case scenario to lessen expectations and for once, maybe deliver better than expected results. Just a thought..
  14. I don't see how you think this trade was personality driven and not performance driven. Corey's approach and results brought this trade on. While Hendry deserves some overall bashing, this is really a non issue. It's doubtful Corey will be anything special, and it's doubtful Spears will be. Gesh, seems everyone is on the edge of the cliff...
  15. I couldn't agree w/ you more. I believe the major reason our entire staff, spare one or two pitchers, have underachieved since Barrett arrived, was their lack of trust/confidence/cohesiveness in M.B. I still think not resigning Lofton and Pudge in the offseason prior to '04 put this club in the spot it's in. I'm sure there's stats one can find to argue I'm wrong, but in these two cases, there's more to it than stats..
  16. Why did you decide to leave Sisco unprotected?
  17. not at all. He's a fraud.
  18. I STILL can't figure out, when looking over our roster, it's a $100M payroll. Wood and Maddox take up 19M!!!!
  19. One important matchup Yost>Baker
  20. like many topics, moderation is the key. A Win should not be the defining stat for a pitcher, but it shouldn't ignored either. Wins do separate the good from the bad. A bad pitcher will, over time, either not pitch enough innings or leave without the lead, and thus, not earn many wins. A good pitcher will pitch enough innings and, over time, leave with the lead, thus making himself vulnerable to forces out of his control. Run support is critical, but it will not consistantly make a bad pitcher good. Therefore, the Win stat has value, but it should be used in moderation.
  21. I must have done something really bad in a previous life. I was born into it.
  22. why would you find that insulting? He is stating his opinion.
  23. . This is not a personal attack, but referencing some defensive stats can make one look quite foolish and deminish any credibilty from his or her other posts. Makes me wonder if some watch games or just read box scores
