  1. This will be a fun post to revisit in August. A lot of people are giving strong opinions on both sides without really even seeing him play. I love it.
  2. Let the dream die, Pagen is not good. http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/P/angel-pagan.shtml Wow, thanks, I didn't realize that Pagan had better #'s than Scott Podsednik in the minors. Maybe there is a chance for this guy!
  3. Pretty awful spring from Ronny. Hopefully he and Juan P can turn on the switch in April
  4. http://kansascity.royals.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060328&content_id=1365143&vkey=spt2006news&fext=.jsp&c_id=kc I'm surprised he wasn't traded.

  6. Pagan's minor league number's are not that bad. He is only 24. I think the Mets gave up on him to soon.
  7. 11 pitchers 8 position players leaves a 6 man bench as: Walker Mabry Perez Blanco Pagen Grissom/Theriot/Restovich IMO, if Grissom wants to play, he's in. If not, they'll keep The Riot.
  8. Do players get additional options if they are traded?
  9. Even if Williamson's arm falls off Eyre's and Howry's contracts would still be lousy deals. That's your opinion. If they pitch well, how could you call them bad deals? We have a starting staff that at times, take 100+ pitches to complete 5 innings. The bullpen is very important in today's game. It's my opinion that the money was worth the risk. Now we just have to hope they perform.
  10. Who again did we get for Corey?
  11. It'll be interesting to see how the Cubs fare against a knuckler. Great story. I dislike Brantly a little less now.
  12. Totally disagree with Rogers. Money should be spend on starting pitching. If none is available, then wait. I believe we have the offense, we need to shore up the infield D.
  13. Is there any reason they need to give him the job now? Let the kids continue to compete.
  14. and usually at a time when we really need a win
  15. He was out of options. The Sox didn't admit their mistake soon enough.
  16. Greg Maddox just breathed a sigh of relief. Now if only they would trade Dunn.
  17. No, it means there's two weeks left in S.T. and there's still a battle going on. He wants all Jerry and Todd to keep fighting.
  18. His W-L record isn't really the issue. At all. or any pitcher for that matter. BTW dont dismiss record completely it does factor in, it is the ultimate measure of success. I know it isnt something the pitcher has complete control over, but in the end it doesnt matter if you had 200 plus strikeouts and a great ERA, if you didnt win games you werent a success. Also when you look at the numbers it is a strong indicator of success in wins, if you have the above stats then you most likely will have a good record, but it doesnt guarentee it. A W is all that matters at the end of the day. I may very well be wrong, but thats just how I feel :D Thanks for defending yourself. I've never seen a bad pitcher win games consistantly. It's only one stat, but one that gets dismissed to often by stat boys.
  19. What are Pierre's numbers? I don't know about Pierre, but right about now I am wishing Mitre was still a Cub. I never thought he got a fair chance in Chicago. I don't think he is a world beater, but the Cubs could use another #3 or #4 with the health (or lack there of) the pitching staff. Yeah, I understand why the Cubs made the deal, however, more and more I'm thinking we're going to regret it.
  20. When do we find out the bad news???
  21. The problem here isn't the Cubs, it's Prior's ability to stay healthly. Geesh, I know this is difficult news to swallow, but why all the focus on the team that's paying his salery to play, and not the guy himself?????
  22. It looks like Mateo has yet to appear in a ST game. I know he showed up out of shape, but is there something else wrong?
  23. It may take 5 years. The Cubs get knocked on all the time for not signing the big name, but that's because they usually don't offer the years the big names require. Then trade him for some decent prospects. The Marlins would... and they won two World Championships
