  1. Schuerholz Shapiro Dombrowski Beane Beinfest Ryan Melvin Jocketty Cashman Towers Shapiro is a great GM who is still not getting any credit for it man...I've been saying the guys top 5 for 3-4 years now.
  2. This is how I look at Vlad..he's been playing 12 years...and the worst season he's had in which he played more than 10 games is: .302/.350/.483 And it's not even close either. His lowest BA after that is .307, and his lowest SLG is .552. This generation's most underrated player?
  3. You're right, oops. Anyway, this is going to be one interesting ballot. I guarantee alot of talk of "he was great, but he didn't win anything...did he have a big impact?" talk.
  4. I decided to go onto MLB.com and fiend some video clips and player stats...you know...fun stuff. So I ended up on Vlad's page, and looked at yet another MVP type season the guy was having. He's hitting .326/.414/.545 this year. He's a career .325/.391/.581 hitter, and one of the best hitters of his generation year in and year out. He's 42nd all time with a .325 career BA, and 93rd all time in career OBP. He also is JUST outisde the top 10 in SLG (11th). Of course people will like the MVP award, the WS ring, and the 352 and counting HRs. Discuss.
  5. What?!?!? The majority of people that wanted and still want Zambrano traded was due to the fact of his contract status and the Cubs ownership status. There is no need for poeple to "eat crow". It seems that all you do around here is drop in radomly to threads to critque other posters. It is quite annoying. Calm yourself. He's referring to the people who were saying Z sucks. There was plenty of that around for a while. Well they were just wrong, I think most people (including myself) thought his best long term value to the Cubs would be in a trade for big time prospects. His early slump just made people go FACK we can't get a Salty or Brandon Wood or w/e.
  6. We need more HEART and GRITTINESS in our lineup.
  7. I'd like it better if it was Miller, Crowe, and Betancourt. But that might be steep.
  8. Who is James Simmons? I can find like...nothing on this guy.
  9. Great, great pick. He'll work well for the Rangers. I think he'll be a groundball/K machine.
  10. Guys I would have prefered: Porcello Parker Heyward Detweiler Weiters
  11. I've made it well known I wanted one of either Porcello or Parker, but Vitters is a solid bet to at least make the Major Leagues. Still...I can't say I'm not disappointed. This was a high talent draft and there was way better talent there IMO. But whatever, at least we have a decent position prospect in the minors now. Heres hoping for something nice at 48.
  12. I think I've fallen for Parker in this past week. He screams Ben Sheets/Jeremy Bonderman to me. He's small but loose and athletic. I like that he still has some projection to him, even at 6'1/6'2. He's got the fastball, fastball command, excellent mechanics/arm action, and a nasty slider. I'm stuck on him and Porcello, which means the Cubs will end up pissing me off.
  13. Carlos Gomez/Lastings Milledge + Humber + Young reliever Please.
  14. I would be pissed with Vitters at 3. I feel like Parker or Weiters are our best bet. I'm liking Parker ALOT.
  15. He's not as good or major league ready. The only real similarities is that they throw hard and they're short.
  16. Rusch Rusch Rusch Rusch Rusch Rusch Rusch Word sensor at work. I LOL'd.
  17. Does anyone actually care? Wow, a young good looking athlete likes blondes with big [expletive]...shocking. The NY tabloids need to get off of ARods ass.
  18. way to do your homework, Cubs  “It was honestly the darkest point in my life,” Clanton says, his voice filled with emotion, cracking in spots. “Jim Hendry once quoted to me, ‘This [organization] is not a democracy. It is a dictatorship. You shut the f--k up.’ Not only is this f*cked up, but could anyone else picture Hendry spitting food out of his mouth while he says this?
  19. Jarrod Parker reminds me of Ben Sheets with easier velocity and better mechanics. He throws a slider, not a curveball though. I think it compares well to Jeremy Bonderman's when he was drafted. That pitch has disgusting potential. Another comparison I've heard is a RH Scott Kazmir. Basically, he and Porcello are "special."
  20. Christ I remember how excited everyone was back then. Within two years Blasko and Jones (I think) had multiple shoulder problems, Hagerty went under the knife for TJ surgery, and then Petrick followed Hagerty. But back then...all those guys had low to mid 90's fastballs and all had a close to plus breaking ball. So....we don't have to change any orginizational philosophies on how to handle pitchers...
  21. He had a top 5 HS arm in his draft, and arguably the best curveball in that draft period. I've been waiting for them to do this for years.
  22. Guys I want at 3: 1. Price (duh) 2. Porcello 3. Heyward 4. Weiters
