  1. man that was a meatball... kent should've put that in the bleachers
  2. yeah, we know you like the word veteran, lou
  3. wait, the lakers are playing the celtics tonight???
  4. I feel like I'm watching 60 Minutes do a piece on Joe Torre, the mass murderer. Doesn't get any better than the helmet falling out of Jones' hand, and Furcal "rolling" across the screen. I liked it when he bunted the ball and it just fell straight down and then flew off the screen. yeah i rewound just to watch that again. glad i'm not the only one amused by the cheesiness of the graphics in the story, or whatever it was.
  5. harang has been terrible since throwing 63 pitches in that marathon game against the padres on 2 days rest. wonder if there's a connection.
  6. .344/.436/.582/1.018 in High A ball this year (I'd guess that he'll go to AA in the second half of the year) wonder if a guy like that could've fit into the cubs' plans, or fetched something at the trade deadline.
  7. my assumption is that a pitcher who never established himself as a major league pitcher will not be able to do so during his first year off of TJ surgery. hell, liriano was maybe the best pitcher in baseball for half a season, and he's pitched lousy this year.
  8. let me go off the board and say randy wells.
  9. please do not let angel guzman do anything except pitch in the minors this year.
  10. i say "flubs" or "scrubs" - both of which are so clever and witty.
  11. given that kelly and hewitt are potential cub targets, i'm beginning to think that this guy is the best-case scenario for the cubs' first round pick.
  12. i don't want casey kelly, but anthony hewitt will make me vomit in rage.
  13. norm charlton and terry mulholland were proof that if you have a left arm and a pulse, you can pitch in the big leagues for a long time. i'm surprised that mike remlinger isn't still hanging around with somebody.
  14. milwaukee is only 6 games back? we're finished. who goes in a firesale? if we eat half of soriano's contract, do you think someone will take him? i think it's time to get rid of lee also; see what hoffpauir can do at first base.
  15. if he keeps up the .410 OBP, he can swing the bat holding the barrel for all i care
  16. yes, one of the two games i've ever attended at wrigley. and the cubs were horrendous that year (2002) That's probably why I don't remember it than. Amazingly, I do. The big hit was a blooper down the line, iirc. No idea why I remember that. nah, it was an alex gonzalez double deep to the wall. i wouldn't remember anything about that horrible team, except that like i said, it was the second of two games that i have attended at wrigley.
  17. yes, one of the two games i've ever attended at wrigley. and the cubs were horrendous that year (2002)
  18. When you factor in the ballpark, Lilly hasn't had all that great of a game. A LOT of deep outs that would have been homers or would have banged off the wall in Wrigley. a lot? i count one - huber's fly ball.
  19. if that's a balk then 90% of lefthanded pitchers balk every time they throw to first base
  20. well if lilly pitches a good 7th he's done his job, but the bullpen isn't going to get any rest if the offense doesn't put a run on the board.
