  1. iowa is losing 8-0; randy wells got destroyed. nuff said.
  2. i don't really know what a next step would be. it's either pitch for iowa or pitch for a team lower down in the minors. he's not jason neighborgall wild to the point where he can't pitch in any baseball game at any level. i highly doubt that work on the side will fix anything. he has to do it in game situations. i suspect that as quickly as he lost it, he could get it back, but the question is whether the switch will go back on or not.
  3. orioles now down 3-2; some guy named oscar salazar just hit a 2 run homer for them.
  4. was just going to post this. let's not go overboard about his hitting, since he hasn't shown the ability to hit this well at other levels, but he's also fairly young for AA ball and is holding his own at that level. since catchers' bats develop late, it's certainly not out of the question that he could develop into a good enough hitter to start regularly at the big league level. it's looking like a pretty good bet that the combo of a decent bat with good defense can make him a solid backup.
  5. i'm not convinced it will continue, but boy have i been wrong about this one so far.
  6. Do you ever have anything to post other than digs at the Cubs, management, etc? no, which is why he hasn't been around much the past couple of months. not a lot to rip right now, what with the cubs having the best record in baseball.
  7. yeah, that cardinal offense has not been producing much recently. i attribute today's performance more to daisuke having terrible command than the cards playing great baseball. unfortunately the brewers are winning this evening.
  8. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2008_06_21_clemlb_lanmlb_1& go to the video and watch the home run... that was no cheap home run, fo sho
  9. yeah the best fans in baseball thing is irksome, but cards fans generally seem like good people and knowledgeable fans who enjoy a good rivalry. a lot of white sox fans seem to be bitter with an inferiority complex and a hawk-esque view of how the game should be played.
  10. another reason to pick up sabathia - aside from a solid 7 IP, 1 ER, 10 K performance, he also hit an absolute bomb over the bullpen at dodger stadium
  11. haha that is priceless, duke's lawyers arguing that their football team is so horrible that any replacement team would suffice.
  12. why don't pitchers bust him inside with fastballs? it seems like he wouldn't be able to do much with those. pretty much all of his power is oppo at this point.
  13. btw, someone mentioned in a BP chat recently that the sox pitching was a prime candidate to decline due to some anomalously-low home run rates, especially playing in a home park that favors home run hitters. looks like that has started to happen...
  14. i am shocked by this result, especially with how well the dutch played in the opening round.
  15. his start would've been on tuesday night, not against the white sox.
  16. he's exhausted from fending off the sexual advances of a new teammate.
  17. c'mon dutch boys
  18. it was just a story from 13 years ago... really the SAT means nothing in the grand scheme of things. and i don't believe that you beat contra without up-up-down-down-L-R-L-R-B-A-start
  19. hear that fred wilpon? your mets will always be second fiddle to the yankees, so it's time to pack up and head off to greener pastures.
