  1. the phillies just swept the braves 3-1, 5-3, 1-0. i think they've given away their blueprint for playoff success - awesome starting pitcher (hamels, halladay, oswalt), followed by ryan madson in the 8th (if necessary), and brad lidge in the 9th. they're going to be tough to beat with that rotation, at least in the NL.
  2. we had a long thread about the mcdonald's coffee lawsuit: http://www.northsidebaseball.com/forum/topic?f=15&t=40894
  3. get '80s kurt rambis on the team and you've got the ugliest frontcourt in nba history
  4. mike quade for 2010 NL manager of the year
  5. bets: central michigan temple cincy cal ucla (what a ridiculous schedule they've played) utah st unlv
  6. no, that's jewel. jewell is the guy who people accused of setting off a bomb at olympic village in atlanta (even though he didn't do it)
  7. No kidding. I'd say the Rangers are my second favorite team. I love watching them play and really think they have a great chance in the playoffs. A friend of mine lives in Dallas and is a die-hard Rangers fan. They can relate to Cubs fans pain and even now as good as they've done and as much of a sure thing as the playoffs are for them, they are willing to count any chickens before their hatched. No, they can't. Nobody can. Except other Cubs fans. there's plenty of teams with misery. shaddap i'm sure cleveland fans feel so bad for cubs fans.
  8. that probably happens every play it definitely doesn't, but it doesn't appear that his feet moved forward, so the qb received the ball at the same spot anyway.
  9. nobody, they all suck Eagles would beat the Bears, Bears might beat the Redskins. If they start Vick they'd probably beat the Bears. Kolb is awful. this statement is based on.... ???
  10. http://media.nj.com/yankees_main/photo/phil-cuzzi-twins-yankees-b4e2c495297165bc_large.jpg
  11. if they are backing up the truck and shipping everyone out, i would take pujols and wainwright for the cubs please.
  12. look everyone knows that when we say a player is awful or terrible or completely sucks, we're not talking about him relative to minor league players, little leaguers, accountants, etc. it's relative to their peers in major league baseball. or do we really have to qualify every statement about a player's ability? "you know, casey coleman has a really poor fastball relative to the rest of the pitchers in major league baseball, but if you saw him throwing in the upper 80s at a county fair fast-pitch booth he'd almost certainly have the best arm there."
  13. nobody, they all suck
  14. nice first half giants
  15. the line moved like 2 points in the bears' direction and more people were betting the cowboys. that means all the smart money was going toward the bears. i guess we will see how important it is for jerry jones to have a puppet as coach. wade phillips is an absolutely terrible coach and if he stays around, we'll have our answer.
  16. guys if you are going to discuss dave kaplan please credit @thekapman.
  17. dave kaplan is a completely worthless human being.
  18. more like derek CHEATER get it?
  19. i have definitely never heard of a pitcher named sanabia.
  20. That's what he wears when he goes out hunting with Jared Allen. hopefully jared allen is more sober while hunting than he is while driving.
  21. Troy is one of the Sears Five Tool Player of the Year candidates... here are the competitors: Shin-Soo Choo (not too much argument with this one - he does have five tools, though he strikes out too much and his power isn't great for a corner OF) Nelson Cruz (fine, although he's only played 92 games because of injury) Joey Votto (five tools? he plays first base so his arm strength probably isn't that good, and he has 14 SB against 4 CS in 2010 and 26 SB/10 CS in his career) Chase Utley (injuries aside, it's hard to argue with him) Troy Tulowitzki (not fast - 41 SB/25 CS in his career) Carlos Gonzalez (fine, though he's not going to keep hitting for average with that K rate)
  22. Tulo's september numbers halfway through the month: 22-61, 18 runs, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 11 home runs, 27 rbi, .361/.409/.984/1.393 and the guy hitting one spot ahead of him (carlos gonzalez) is hitting .456/.515/.856/1.370 in the last four weeks... yikes!
  23. are tennis players required to sign something before a major that if they win, they will fall down on the ground in feigned amazement and exhaustion? wow roger federer is on the ground amazed that he won his 90th major of his career.
  24. i think the sleeping bear has forgotten to wake up from its hibernation.
