  1. How about Ohio State-Minnesota? at least OSU is ranked the spread on the psu-michigan game is michigan getting 1.5 points. i'd sure as hell rather watch a game between two also-rans than a team that is contending for a conference title and will win by 40 points.
  2. michigan st and mizzou will be leaving the ranks of the undefeated this week.
  3. the nfc west and afc west are just terrible. there's only one team among those eight with above-average talent, and that team has the worst head coach in the league.
  4. it was a 50 yard attempt, nfl kickers only average about 50% from there.
  5. nobody can accuse bill belichick of being boring
  6. how do you give up 50 points to [expletive] oakland? and someone explain to me norv turner's continued employment as a head coach.
  7. way to show up, denver
  8. do the broncos understand that their game has started, and that it counts in the standings? it's pretty wild, by far the most common picks in elimination leagues this week were the saints, who lost, and the bills, who won in overtime. then after that the broncos were the third most common pick, and they're somehow getting blown out by the raiders.
  9. well, aside from the 10 play drive they had at the beginning of the game.
  10. time for les miles to make a string of idiotic decisions followed by his team inexplicably winning anyway
  11. they also had the best pitching of any AL team that made the playoffs, and the third-best OBP in the AL. productive outs are probably down around the 100th reason they are in the world series.
  12. looking forward to the next game, maybe two, in philly. the giants had their chance to clinch at home with their ace on the mound, but the phillies pulled it out. now you've got oswalt against a pitcher who can be either dominant or unable to find the plate, and possibly hamels against cain in a great game 7 matchup, with the possibility of halladay and/or lincecum pitching out of the bullpen if needed.
  13. I agree with you, but keep in mind who we're talking about. I fully expect them to make those bad decisions. okay so you are assuming that the cubs will just give cashner an extra 80 innings next year, so you're assuming that he'll make the rotation? it's very possible that they'll just use him in the bullpen, in which case he's not much of an injury risk. and to say that a guy's career has been ruined because he was shifted from SP to RP is just dumb. there have been a lot of very valuable relief pitchers and there's a pretty good chance that cashner would be effective in that role.
  14. to be fair, they lose a lot off the top. 10% of so goes to the agent, they're in the highest tax bracket, maybe a personal trainer, maybe a nutritionist. but you're right, a lot of them feel they need to maintain a posh lifestyle and burn through money really quickly (which really sucks when your career is over before you hit middle age)
  15. san diego st was only a 1 or 2 point underdog in that game. sdsu is pretty good - they beat air force, played mizzou really close and blew out three other teams. the loss at byu wasn't very good though.
  16. FYI, that was from last year. I haven't looked it up, but what did you lose from last year and what have they replaced it with? Also, did your S&C coach change recently? It's about a 3 year slide before the results are felt ... Look up the Cam Maybin before/after pics. That should have occurred in college. yeah instead he just dominated college OT's and got drafted in the first half of the first round. Agreed. But how much better could he have been had he been properly trained? ok one, i recall reading multiple articles from his first year or two at PSU where the coaching staff griped that they've never tried harder to get a player to put on and keep on weight, and he just wouldn't. they had him eating a lot more and working out a lot, and any weight he gained he would just lose right away. two, he has a grand total of 23 tackles and 0 sacks in 21 games as a pro, so maybe all this "proper training" isn't working out so well for him after all.
  17. vitters went 3-6 with a double and a K in last night's game... flaherty doubled and walked after coming on as a PH. that was it as far as cub farmhands.

  19. hmmm i see psu is on the list. i guess our guys are just morbidly obese while other teams' players are physical specimens.
  20. i wouldn't, but i'd rather have a bunch of streaky guys who are, on average, good players than a team of guys who OPS exactly .700 every month without fail.
  21. plus it's all coming from some coach's wife at a tailgate? i suspect that most coach's wives have a little more discipline than to just spout off every problem with the program. this same [expletive] happened in the early 2000s when PSU was bad or mediocre most years; everyone said paterno didn't know what was going on, there was no discipline, in-fighting, etc. then the program got good for a few years and all of a sudden the rumors went away.
  22. i like your arbitrary choice of these three schools
  23. Ummm...am I missing something? yes, you are missing the NSBB thread where his name was repeatedly spelled "leif" by a certain spelling-challenged poster.
  24. most of that stuff is a load of crap. this year's team is bad because of inexperience and there have been an incredible number of injuries.
  25. this stat from tuesday morning quarterback made me laugh:
