  1. so you can keep major league players in your minor league system but can't put injured minor leaguers on your injured list. makes a lost of sense.
  2. Next year? You're an optimist. Wait until 2015 at least. 2020 is more like it. your posts are extremely stupid.
  3. it will be so much better when he's doing this for us.
  4. So it's ok to stock pile 11-13 minor league players when you have zero intention of competing this season by burying some of them on the DL? you can put a total of 3 players on the injury list. everyone can "stock pile" 10 minor league players so who cares if you "stock pile" an 11th by using an injury position that isn't used by the major league team? fyi, if the ruling is that i can't put lamb on the injured list i'll just put him on my bench and release peter bourjos or whoever. by the way, sock it thome currently has two players "stock piled" in the minors while those players (a. oliver, j. reddick) are in the major leagues. tootielicious has a similar situation with dj lemahieu. i assume these situations will be addressed right away?
  5. so is being balls-to-the-wall negative in every post, but damned if he doesn't pull it off
  6. http://dailyherald.com/article/20110602/sports/706029870/ bruce mentions gillick and schuerholz like they're just sitting around waiting for the cubs to call and offer them a job. gillick voluntarily retired after a very successful run as GM of the phillies and is almost 74 years old. schuerholz is 70 and has been with the braves forever. it's certainly worth kicking their tires, but is schuerholz going to leave a very successful organization at his advanced age? will gillick want to come out of retirement to fix the cubs? i also don't agree with the idea that the rest of cubs management is tied to jim hendry. if you want to keep wilken around, then just offer him the money to stay. same with fleita (though he can F off as far as i'm concerned). who cares about randy bush.
  7. oh look jeffh taking an extremely pessimistic position and also bashing hendry, didn't see that coming
  8. forgot how to hit? he has an .852 ops in AA at age 22. i know you like to bandwagon onto players who are having a good two weeks but i didn't know you threw in the towel on guys who suffered an injury and slump for like 5 games after coming back.
  9. mcclellan was DL'ed and lackey is coming off the DL so i swapped them. the guy i traded for like 5 days ago is having TJS (awesome) so i put him on injured and added some other prospect.
  10. it's really not uncommon. high draft pick pitchers are normally more successful (and throw harder), just like high draft pick hitters.
  11. i thought the post about wilson ramos being drafted was a joke. let the record show that 28 year old miguel cabrera, he of the 147 career ops+ and 180 ops+ the last year and 2 months, went undrafted while wilson ramos and his career .285/.332/.431/.763 minor league line, was picked. i think doug glanville needs to cut down on the world of warcraft and pay more attention to baseball.
  12. much better outing for jay jax, even though he didn't strike out many guys.
  13. yeah seriously, why have a diving rule if you're not going to call garbage like that? between that and the burrows bite, vancouver is making themselves very unlikeable.
  14. that seems like a very poor prediction.
  15. Age has nothing to do with it. Of course not. It's just a big coincidence that a very sizable majority of the people in this thread were between 13 and 25 the last time they really felt the Cubs' fire for multiple seasons. I'm 34 years old. I was older than your age range when the board was created. You're really making things up here. Maybe getting older has to do with people spending less time on the board, but not for caring about baseball. as kyle has aged he has also learned to bandwagon onto good teams in various sports, thereby getting his sports satisfaction from other sources and not caring too much about the cubs' success or failure.
  16. if a team soriano's contract i'd give them prospects to go along with him.
  17. it's not like cashner wore down from overuse and abuse as a starter. he pitched 5 innings and then missed more than 2 months. and again, this isn't a full season worth of injuries. this is just two months. you're acting like because some of these guys are older or injury prone, that they should all be expected to get hurt in the first 50 games of the year.
  18. should a student athlete be allowed to make endorsements? can they be a sponsored athlete in a non-collegiate sport? well the answer to the first one based on the "do not profit" standard is no; the second one is more nebulous because they're theoretically profiting from a sport they don't compete in collegiately (though if terrelle pryor gets a quarter mill as a skateboarder from vitamin water and can barely ride a skateboard, it won't be too hard to see through that charade)
  19. everyone is hurt, of course the team is a mess. plus saying "oh we don't want to add a really good hitter on an 8/10 year contract because the team might only finish 3rd next year" is completely short-sighted stupidity.
  20. there aren't that many rules. the main rule is, you're not allowed to profit from your position on the football team. taking money from boosters? that's profiting. sweet deal on a car because you're the starting qb? profiting. selling gold pants or a jersey to pay for tattoos? profiting.
  21. what is with these 6:43 start times for tennessee?
  22. That would figure. Not too many explanations for Carlos getting knocked around by these jokers. marmol has been declared injured like 10 times in the last 3 years, basically every time he blows a save in horrific fashion.
  23. don't forget simpson's two wild pitches!!! also, rhee got beat up in the 5th inning and gave up 4 runs before being lifted.
