  1. complete aside, i was walking somewhere (maybe the airport?) when i overheard someone saying they didn't like the beatles because all of their songs sound the same. i was severely tempted to punch that person in the face.
  2. i don't really understand the Q at the end of LGBTQ... is it queer? i thought that was covered by the L and the G.
  3. Or opting to have Mark Guthrie face Mike Lowell rather than Dave Veres face Lenny Harris? there were so many things that dusty screwed up so terribly in that series. the bartman thing really bailed him out from a lot of criticism that would have (and should have) come his way. i [expletive] hate dusty baker.
  4. yep. harper seems like the kind of guy who everyone would love to see fail, but he'll be one of the best players in the game anyway.
  5. http://www.nndb.com/people/979/000026901/steve-bartman.jpg sure looks to me like the ball/alou's glove are over the railing, which is not part of the field.
  6. i like how we've already determined that the owner, who bought the team like a year ago, sucks.
  7. i'm feeling increasingly pessimistic about our world series chances
  8. in that case you should voluntarily remove yourself from this message board.
  9. most games are in the evening, and there are games played in september, april and may. really there are three months of games in weather that's sometimes hot, assuming that you're playing outdoors and not on the west coast. like today's game time temperature was 73 degrees, i'm pretty sure quade could survive this one while wearing a suit. i'm not saying that every manager should be required to wear a suit, but if they want to, who cares
  10. plenty of people wear suits in the summer. and if you ever saw gary williams sweat through his suit and shirt in about 5 minutes, you know it can be pretty hot indoors. the other thing is that baseball managers go on the field while the other coaches don't, but really who cares if the manager is wearing a suit for his 30 second stroll out to the mound.
  11. so why is it fine for basketball and hockey coaches to wear suits but completely ridiculous for a baseball manager to wear a suit?
  12. experiencing turbulence gets RWD's 7th round pick in 2012 draft
  13. lol dolis continued to implode; blake lalli came on to pitch and gave up a home run.
  14. dolis gave up the lead on a 3-run homer to kyle "the texas wind machine" russell
  15. austin reed definitely did not end up good. boise pretty much sucked in general.
  16. what do you want them to wear, jorts and a tank top?
  17. mcnutt has allowed 144 hits in 180 innings while beeler has allowed just over a hit per inning. mcnutt's k rate is a little higher too. just based on the stats, mcnutt looks like a guy who could be a #2/3 whereas beeler looks more like a guy who is a #3-5 - more hittable and working off his control rather than great stuff. but i don't know enough about beeler's stuff to say how good it is relative to mcnutt's stuff.
  18. Look around the league. Most teams 5 starters are probably on par with Wells. Its not his fault that we only have 3 starting pitchers that are better than him when we should have 4. name 10 teams with 5 starters who are on par with wells. note: 10 is not "most teams" but if you can name 10, you at least might be onto something. hint: you may just want to not do this and admit you were wrong. Probably am wrong, although there probably are about 10. As I've stated in the past, as long as Wells is cheap and semi effective, I'm OK with him. Once he's up for a pay raise, I'd prefer some other team give it to him. if you can find 10 teams in major league baseball whose top 5 starters have a 116 ERA+ or better (minimum 150 major league innings), no joke i will send you $100 in the mail.
  19. And if someone else had posted Wells sucks without adding the so far this year part after only 5 starts, would you not have gotten on their case hardcore? I think the problem people who have a problem with Wells have is that as a finesse pitcher, when you watch him, he's just not convincing. By that, I mean when you see power pitchers like Z and Garza at their best, they just look dominant, whereas soft tossers just never look that dominant, even when they are unless your talking about a guy like Maddux. When you see these finesses, they just always look hittable even when they're fooling the hitters. I'm not saying its true, its just an impression who cares? he gets people out and his k rate is reasonably good, so obviously it's not just smoke and mirrors. i'd rather have randy wells than a guy who can throw the ball through a brick wall but has no idea where that ball is going.
  20. ok, i'll drop him and just re-add the guy i dropped

  22. nice to see him pitch well, because he sucked last year, and a lot of our far east pitching signees have been flops. That transition cannot be free of severe culture shock. as opposed to the young latin american kids who come play baseball in america?
