  1. pawelek was not considered a reach.
  2. pierre lepage ended up being the most effective pitcher for peoria. not that they're likely to be real prospects or anything, but rafael lopez and Klafczynski hit their first professional homers for boise tonight. reggie golden has a pair of walks in two PA's... really liking the patience from him so far; lack of patience has seemed to be the undoing for a lot of cub high school-drafted hitters.
  3. if the minor league box score is right, rhee pitched by far his best game in who knows how long... complete game shutout in a 7-inning game. 7 ip, 2 h, 0 r, 1 bb, 6 k, 1 hbp, 5 go/4 fo. the pitching lines for peoria: simpson: 1.2 ip, 6 h, 6 er, 2 bb, 0 k jung: 2.1 ip, 4 h, 5 er, 3 bb, 1 k, 1 hr, 2 hbp, 1 wp francescon: 1.2 ip, 7 h, 7 er, 1 bb, 3 k, 2 hr
  4. top journalist gives his thoughts on the lockout
  5. beeler was fine (7 ip, 6 h, 3 er, 1 bb, 2 k, 2 hr, 15 go/2 fo)... beliveau was his usual pile of awesomeness (2 perfect innings, 4 K's) then dolis crapped the bed in the 10th.
  6. I'll never forget the big hit he had in game 2 of the 2010 Cup finals... on Jeff Carter. Didn't realize we were in need of goon depth. he can play a little bit and definitely can get under opponents' skin. main thing with him is keeping his composure and not getting called for stupid penalties. he's not a real high-skill guy but he's not a goon who will score 2 points in 80 games either.
  7. matusz was sent down - giving me two pitchers (along with drabek) who are in the minors because they've pitched terribly in the majors - so i dropped hafner and added v. worley. he won't be pitching in the next couple of days so it won't impact my current matchup.
  8. jung and francescon followed and were each terrible... peoria is down 15-4 in the 5th inning.

  10. DL'ed delmon young and added the well-traveled michael bourn
  11. really like what penalver and candelario are doing in the DSL, hitting for solid average and showing great walk rates along with some doubles power. hopefully they'll be ready to handle the AZL next year at age 18.
  12. that's a nice deal for o'donnell. he was solid for the flyers all year, won't do anything special but won't get caught out too often. to me, he's about the perfect #6 d-man.
  13. lol i am starting to think the flyers got a bargain by giving 95 year old jaromir jagr $3.3 million
  14. sounds like a real winner
  15. 6 ip, 3 h, 1 er, 1 bb, 7 k. i'll take it... seems like an obvious candidate to move up given his K/BB rate and strong performance in the DSL last year. one would think he'd be at full-season ball next year since he'll be 21.
  16. IIRC, Pacieretti said recently he's moved on from the incident and he hopes the police just let it go. literally everybody who isn't a rabid montreal canadiens fan hopes they will let it go. i can only remember one nhl incident in recent memory being prosecuted, that being mcsorley's stick swinging incident against donald brashear. chris simon did way worse things than what chara did without the law getting involved (although i think that was investigated). chara's hit wasn't even a suspendable offense, let alone a clear intent-to-injure infraction. long story short, montreal sucks.
  17. struck pitched pretty well through the 6th but then fell apart a bit in the 7th. final line 6.2 ip, 12 h, 5 r, 4 er, 0 bb, 4 k, 11 go/2 fo, 84 pitches/62 strikes. he probably profiles as a back of the rotation strike thrower, but those guys do have value (a la randy wells), rather than shelling out a few mill for the jason marquis' of the world. brett jackson is 1-2 with a walk in that game. junior lake has homered.... vitters is 0-3 with 2 K's. daytona got rained out... only FSL game to be rained out today :x jokisch has been good - 6 ip, 2 h, 0 r, 0 bb, 7 k.
  18. Is it really fair to compare bonuses from 2004 to 2009? yes, signing bonuses haven't increased that much... they certainly haven't doubled on average, anyway.
  19. at this point i'd be more interested to hear what substances charlie sheen hasn't put into his body.
  20. apparently the montreal police are going to interview zdeno chara and then decide whether or not to press charges against him for the hit on max pacioretti. what a [expletive] joke.
  21. actually he'd be a bigger bust, since bush was a signability pick forced by ownership and tate was a bonus baby who received twice what bush got.
  22. i would too, but borbon isn't as good as bourn defensively and is allergic to walks, so he sucks.
  23. nice game from golden.... 3-3 with a double, walk and an outfield assist.
