  1. why would you give up anything of value for him? he's been pretty lousy for 2+ years now and it's not like he's a real young guy any more; this is his age 27 season. i'd like the other upton though.
  2. http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=16118007&topic_id=8879974&c_id=mlb It's around the 1:25 mark. ahaha that's great, wtg geo also, ozzie is such a clown... where he stomped was a good foot behind where geo actually picked the ball up. what a doofus.
  3. I think you've done quite a nice job.. However, toward the end of the year, I'd recommend taking on some big names with points that you can apply to the cap. Your team is looking like a 100% exempt team with no superstars, which won't win you anything. You'll need to trade some of those guys for keeper points at the end of the year. I'm talking for players like for instance, Pujols, Adrian Gonzalez, etc. Those are the guys that when added to a core of exempt guys like you have will do you wonders. Just my advice, but you may not want to take it. I"ve played in 2 or 3 championships and have yet to win one. thanks, that was definitely my plan... i have a large group of exempt players, along with very good prospects (some of whom could end up as major leaguers if they get over 200 AB's this year), two first round and third round picks in the major league draft, and two first round picks in the prospect draft. bottom line, i should have the pieces to acquire a top-flight hitter and pitcher before the draft, which along with shawn marcum would be a nice start. i probably won't be looking at pujols or gonzalez because i already have gaby sanchez and now also anthony rizzo and goldschmidt, but definitely 3B and OF are areas i'll be looking to improve with a stud hitter.
  4. i'm not sure that you'd find someone to put the effort into maintaining his lineups and improving his team with the expectation that chuck will take over managing that team whenever he has more free time. i think you just need to tell him that he needs to be more active and attentive to his team for the remainder of this year and if he's not, then he'll be replaced immediately after this season.
  5. yes what can i say, i am to fantasy baseball keeper leagues what the new england patriots are to the nfl draft
  6. one game winning streak! and since my opponent this week had a net negative from his two starters, i could possibly make it two :D by the way, whoever said after the halladay deal that managing my team wouldn't be fun the rest of this year was way off. i've got three guys with multiple exemptions who are among the top 10 hitters at their respective positions (avila, g. sanchez, starlin), two very good starters, one with an exemption left (j. garcia), the best prospects of any team in the league, 5 draft picks in the first 3 rounds next year, have been active in trying to make trades to improve the future of my team, and won last week in large part because of a pair of additions i made off the waiver wire/free agency. yeah my team isn't going anywhere this year, but that doesn't mean i can't do things to improve my overall picture. it's actually been quite a bit of fun... definitely the most interesting fantasy baseball league i've ever participated in.
  7. each of our decent dominican prospects (the 18 year olds - zapata, amaya, hernandez) got on base twice in 5 PA's. the donger didn't do so well in his debut, going 0-4 with a strikeout. a pair of relievers were wretched for boise so that one has gotten out of hand. golden is 2-4 with a triple but made his second error of the year. darvill is 1-3 with a walk; would be nice to see him start hitting a little bit. speaking of shortstops who are improving (hopefully), logan watkins drew three walks tonight. he's been a lot better in june. he really has no power so hopefully he's gotten the idea that he needs to play the little guy's game and cut down on the strikeouts.
  8. i feel like newspaper writers just write blatantly trolling articles nowadays to prop up their sagging sales/interest
  9. if he's talking about a current major leaguer it pretty much has to be jaime or freddy, and i don't feel like either one makes a bit of sense.
  10. that's good news for the flyers; they should be able to sign bryzgalov pretty easily now (traded for his signing rights). he's not an elite goalie but he sure as hell is better than the three-headed monster we were using in the playoffs.
  11. Correct. Last year was his first season stateside but it was cut short in extended due to shoulder surgery. ah ok, didn't realize that... thanks. mixed results for the two starters in short season ball tonight... both nice strikeout rates and good control, but both hittable. so far: s. peralta: 4 ip, 7 h (6 singles, 1 triple), 4 er, 1 bb, 7 k. w. cruz: 3 ip, 4 h, 0 r, 0 bb, 1 bb, 6 k. peralta has shown good control in the DSL, whereas cruz had 75 bb in 90 ip coming into this year.
  12. is it accurate that dong-yub kim hasn't played a game besides extended spring training and those ones in the australian academy? seems kind of weird considering that he got a $550k bonus in march 2009 and will turn 21 this summer.
  13. lineup for the AZL cubs in their opener: o. zapata, cf (18 years old) g. amaya, 2b (18) m. hernandez, ss (18) d. geiger, 3b (19) b. inoa, 1b (20) b. springfield, rf (20) d. kim, dh (20) j. dejesus, c (22) e. gonzalez, lf (19) starling peralta (20 years old) started and got knocked around in the first inning (4 h, 3 r) but was better in the second inning, and has 4 K's against 0 BB.
  14. the red sox have a team ops of around .900 in june and after scoring at least 13 tonight, have scored 131 runs in 17 june games (almost 8 per game). the next-highest run total this month is 98 by the yankees. yikes.
  15. i wish mlb.com would put up the opposing announcers' calls for home runs. i'm guessing that hawk's call of pena's home run involved a lot of silence/crickets.
  16. chirinos was most certainly not an important part of the garza deal. also, soto is not about to get really expensive.
  17. everyone knows the cubs would've won that series if guys like ramirez and sosa had spent more time practicing their bunting. that's the real story here.
  18. yeah i don't think that's a good thread title at all
  19. i think that's getting out of hand. queer is covered by L and G, questioning basically means you might be one of the LGTB's and i don't even know what the hell intersex means.
  20. you don't think anyone would still talk about it if alou didn't catch a routine fly ball (that landed in foul territory) because he just fell over????
  21. i don't want to see what our rotation looks like if we're signing kemp, reyes and fielder.
  22. angel guzman pitched for daytona and gave up 3 hits in 1.2 innings while striking out 2.
