  1. i hope sulley has them included on his gulag list.
  2. you had me at "i hate walmart" (even though that's not really what you wrote)
  3. side note, i really need to bandwagon onto a good team. the sixers are worthless (and locked out), the flyers just traded away two of their best players and lost a game in which they scored 8 goals, the eagles have been one of the biggest disappointments in the nfl and the cubs are the cubs. the only team i support that is successful is penn state women's [expletive] volleyball. and i suppose the usa swim team.
  4. I'm with you. I heard an Epstein interview where he talked about the key to free agency is to build a deep enough system where your team goes into free agency in a position of strength. He said mistakes are made when a team is desperate to fill a position and signs a player simply because he is the best available, although he may not fit their ideal description. To me, that is CJ Wilson. that is pretty much what he did with john lackey.
  5. i haven't been there in a few years, but it seemed pretty devastated last time i visited, just in its natural state. I want St. Lousian on St. Lousian crime and widespread unrest. some cardinal players and management will probably be driving home tonight, that will take care of the crime part.
  6. so you have wilson and adams available, and your reliever in the game is struggling to find the plate. so you (a) voluntarily walk the bases loaded and then (b) leave him in to issue another walk. ron washington is trying to outdumb la russa in this series.
  7. i haven't been there in a few years, but it seemed pretty devastated last time i visited, just in its natural state.
  8. the dude hitting in front of pujols is better than pujols.
  9. sac bunt with a fast #2 hitter in the 5th inning, great work ron washington.
  10. two points of optimism: 1. new, competent (very good!) cub management 2. win or lose, all those people still have to live in/around st louis.
  11. i told you, pretty sure he was on the cover of my baseball america prospect handbook for like 3 years in a row. not sure how you guys missed this. all his minor league games were selling out.
  12. to be fair, he was a widely acclaimed prospect. basically bryce harper or mike trout before anybody heard of those guys.
  13. is derek holland warm yet? apparently he's the only guy on the rangers pitching staff who can pitch against the cards without completely [expletive] himself.
  14. butler is a nice player, but i'd really like my first baseman to hit for more power than he does. Doesn't he play 3rd as well? he's 6'1" and weighs 240 lbs, and his nickname is "country breakfast." watching him play third base would be high comedy.
  15. show me where people have said that they do not want the cubs playing good fundamental baseball. hint: you will be searching a really really long time. people are not opposed to bunting so much as bunting in dumbass situations like with the #2 hitter in the first inning, when giving away outs is the last thing a manager should be doing.
  16. http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/2384/201012172958971l.jpg I'll never understand how a vegan is that fat. Does he eat whole sticks of butter? vegetarian, not vegan.
  17. when i win next year will you pay the international shipping charges
  18. i for one am shocked that kyle has taken a position that is contrary to how most people will feel.
  19. I'm still here, but not happy about it. The office is going to be ass today. i would have headphones on the entire day. of course i'd never be living in st louis in the first place
  20. yeah i had to adblock that for fear of nightmares or perhaps a seizure.
  21. i don't really care about how much the hitting coach is paid. he's getting $850k a year; how much does the average major league hitting coach get, maybe $500k? that's $350k in difference. even under great management, any baseball team is going to waste way more money than that on bad free agent signings and draft busts. front office and coach salaries are a drop in the bucket compared to major league payroll. case in point - the guy who will be setting the philosophy for the entire organization for the next several years will be earning basically the same annual salary that john grabow, a mediocre middle reliever, earned the past two years.
  22. That sucks. I hope he is out there tomorrow night. I guess Washington can put Wilson into the game if Matt Harrison implodes. I am still trying to wrap my head around Holland being thrown out there tonight. Does not compute. i didn't have a huge problem with it. you have a 2 run lead and if you protect it, the series is over. the fault goes to their entire bullpen [expletive] their pants.
  23. dude he's listed at 5'11" and 275 pounds, of course he's fat.
  24. i really hope that bill dewitt has reserved a limousine service for cardinals' employees, or tomorrow night could be really grisly in the st louis metro area.
