    Well its not like the fans of those teams have a choice now is there? Most grew up watching that type of baseball so they don't really know anything different. The popularity of AL teams really has nothing to do with the DH. yeah yankee fans couldn't, i don't know, change the channel and watch the other new york team play.

    i would go bonds (steroids made him super-human; hard to say how amazing he would've been without them) and pedro-in-his-prime over pujols, but that's about it. i desperately and irrationally want the cubs to sign him.... [expletive] it if it takes $35m a year, just do it and worry about the consequences later. i would just love it for the reaction of those butt-hurt hillbillies who are losing the greatest player in franchise history to their biggest rival.

    really? i would think the whole "not letting black guys play for 60 years" was bit worse.

    the vernon wells trade would certainly suggest that. napoli had good value, but scioscia was never a fan of him, and they gave him away for a player who probably had negative value due to his awful contract.

    I'm discussing the game, and not trolling. If you can post on our board and be (somewhat) reasonable while doing so, I can do the same on yours. And no one there ever called you such a name. yes you are not trolling by showing up only when the cardinals are eliminating the phillies or going to the world series or winning the first game of the world series.

    i randomly just wondered what will happen to ari kaplan... seems like a good stats guy who probably had no voice with the hendry and fleita types playing significant roles in the system, but now with a more stats-oriented approach, does he play a bigger role? or is he really not needed with epstein/hoyer/mcleod and probably some other of "their guys" coming in.

    The only problem, literally the only problem with the '06 offseason was signing Soriano. Every other move was good. That '06 offseason also left us with the best team in the NL 2 years later. Henry was kindly enough to stay injured most of '07 allowing Geo to take over in September, and was probably one of the best backups in baseball in '08. ETA: Holy [expletive] he's still active?? And good? he was a zero win player and got $5m in two years, that is not a good signing.

    he doesn't say "well i think most hispanic guys are lazy and don't care" since he'd obviously get fired, but curiously his whipping boys all happen to be latin american and he seems to criticize all of them for lack of hustle, leadership and effort.
