    BA inexplicably kept ranking him in their top 100, which is probably why people think he's a good prospect. He's never shown much power and he sucks defensively - what is the appeal here?

    i remember seeing vizcaino during last year's futures game and being reeeeeaaaaaally impressed with his stuff. i don't know if he's a starter or a closer but he most certainly has a big league arm. or at the very least had one that hopefully wasn't left on the operating table.

    all four pairs were banned. i'm enjoying the whitewater kayak thing. looks like a pretty grueling workout and receives the truffleshuffle seal of approval. on the other hand, men's field hockey (???) receives an emphatic thumbs down.

    well there's obviously the risk factor. Lindor is a lot better bet to be a .750 ops shortstop in the bigs than Baez is to be a .950 ops 3b (or .950 ops anything, really)

    not sure what has been going on with victorino this year, but he's been a legitimately very good player for the last few years.

    LSU can have him yeah that was my reaction - i'm sure he's interested in transferring to LSU, but is LSU really interested in a quarterback who can't start over [expletive] matt mcgloin???

    this is true. top notch pools (been swimming in one while in melbourne for work - the pool i've been using hosted the 2006 commonwealth games and 2007 world swimming championships) have a flat edge so that water churned up by the outer lanes will just spill into the drain rather than bouncing back at the swimmer. the only real downside to being on an outer lane at this point - and it's still a big disadvantage - is that the top swimmers usually gun for a good time in the semis so the top swimmers will tend to be in lanes 4/5 for the final, and any swimmer on the outside lanes will have a hard time using the swimmers in lanes 4/5 to pace.

    a guy like billy hamilton who steal like 150 bases and turn any line drive to the wall into a triple is fun as hell. i hope he sucks because he's going to be in our division, but really i hope the reds trade him and he turns out to be awesome.

    that's not totally true. There are some guys in Iowa who are there because they are good AAA players and you need that kind of thing in the high minors, unless you want to lose 110 games and have your affiliate start shopping around for a new parent club.

    I very much doubt that any of the prospect people rank him in their top 50 at this stage. He was marginal top 50 before the season and subsequently blew out his elbow. For comparison, most people had John Lamb (royals) as a top 30 guy earlier last year, and I've barely seen him on a top 100 list since his surgery last July.

    Hopefully it was pittsburgh, he can just change uniforms and start playing for them.

    one of karen's relief pitchers (drew storen) pitched his first game of the year on july 19th, so i'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that he didn't affect her results before that date. or really after that date since he has a grand total of 3 points.

    what was so bad about the zambrano deal? he clearly had very little value. volstad sucks. zambrano has been pretty bad too (92 era+, career high walk rate, career high LD%, almost a career low K rate).
