    now that bestfansstlouis guy is retweeting cardinal fans who are saying that the world series is rigged for boston to win because of the marathon bombing. Christ, what a bunch of rubes. i'm pretty sure that if mlb were in that business, they would've made the yankees win in 2001 instead of losing game 7 in pretty much the most heartbreaking way possible.

    i'd have a hard time putting almora in the top 10. just off the top of my head, i'd have buxton, sano, taveras, t. walker, bogaerts (does he count any more?), correa, syndergaard, archie bradley, bryant and baez ahead of him. probably lindor, taillon, g. polanco, a. russell as well.

    well, the people who were saying after game 2 that the series wasn't coming back to fenway were almost right, because the red sox almost won game 3.

    Koji humiliates RHP and LHP equally, it's all the same downward spin you can't pick up. oh he's definitely awesome, but he's been somewhat prone to allowing home runs (really his only achilles heel). just would've been terrified to put in an opposite-side pitcher to face a power hitting fat ass like adams when he is basically useless against lhp. but then again, everything is terrifying when the stakes are this high.

    matt adams versus lhp in his career: .208/.219/.375/.594 red sox: let's take out a lhp and put in a rhp!

    I think he would have been if he didn't slide with the grace of a newborn gazelle. He had the right idea and just couldn't make his body do it. I have to think that Lester in the 7th isn't so different than Workman/Breslow that it's worth basically punting one of your 2 chances to make it 4-1. At least they picked up one so hopefully it becomes moot. it's quite possible that he goes the 7th and 8th, since his pitch count was only 69 thru 6. to me it would've been an easy decision if the sox had a lights out middle reliever. workman hasn't been great this year and breslow's numbers this year were somewhat of a mirage. anyway, it's an interesting discussion, and i suppose one of the reasons that i like no-DH baseball.

    i would've had a really tough time deciding on whether to let lester hit there. significantly increase your chances of scoring more runs with a pinch hitter, but he's been rolling and has a low pitch count, and the sox' bullpen hasn't been lights out. probably would've left him in to hit.

    i really do not like that thomas vanek trade for the islanders. seems like too much to give up a first and second rounder in addition to a good player in moulson, for what might be about 70 games of vanek.

    looked to me like the ground rule double should have been a home run. also think he got jobbed by the home plate umpire on his check swing.

    not just that stuff, but a lot of the people who are loudest about legalization are WAY too into pot. like it's a way of life for them. i'm pretty sure that prohibition would have gone on longer than it did if the prominent voices to undo the 18th amendment were a bunch of fall-down drunks. it's good that the legalization push is becoming more widespread so that there will a broader range of voices than the phish fans and jeff spicoli clones.

    as a reliever since coming over to the u.s., his whip is 0.701, his K/BB ratio is 284/26 in 219 innings, and he's got a .165/.192/.301/.493 line against.

    frank thomas only made the top 100 once because, after turning pro, he only had one offseason where he was prospect eligible. jack cust made the top 100 3 times, and he was always projected to be an abysmal defensive player.

    and i had no idea that leyland was only 68. he looked old when he was the pirates' manager, which was 20 years ago.
