  1. Same here. I also had SIU as an 11 seed making the Sweet Sixteen that year, #8 seed UCLA beating #1 seed Cincy, and Mizzou in the Sweet Sixteen as a 12 seed, all of which happened. Plus I had 3 of the final four right that year (except Indiana) and had Maryland as the champion. Normally I'm only average at these pools but that year, it was like I could do no wrong. I went back and figured out what I would've scored in the ESPN bracket (I didn't do one that year on ESPN) and I would've been in the top 100 out of a million nationwide. I guess the Kent St to the Elite 8 is my proudest pick. Winthrop would've made it up there as well. And the year that UConn won it all, my pick of #8 seed Alabama over #1 seed Stanford was the difference in me winning that office pool.
  2. So even though the Cards are better than the Cubs, only 5 out of 22 people so far have voted that the Cards will win the season series? Yikes.
  3. No kidding, the endless stream of Crapplebee's commercials have already put me thisclose to a murderous rage.
  4. Yeah, that bandwagon just got out of control after they won the Big XII title. I thought they had a better team than they showed tonight, but I had 'em getting knocked off by Pitt in the second round. Actually, I have Pitt in the Final Four, and like that pick more after the Bradley upset and Pitt's strong performance tonight.
  5. I've been picking pools for 15 years, and have never picked a 2 seed to lose in the first round. This year I picked Winthrop, and damned if they didn't almost pull it off. Oh well.
  6. Well I picked Winthrop.... wrong. I also gave a guy $40 to bet in Vegas since the line on the Syracuse-TAMU game was basically a pick 'em. And, I picked Marquette. So basically, after the first round, I am a loser.
  7. Ah, I missed out on this. Oh well, after the screwing over in the playoffs last year, it's probably best to sit out.
  8. How have you made it this far in life without ever watching a Duke game? I've seen plenty of Duke and plenty of Syracuse, and Boeheim whines more. I dissent.

  10. Well being as Sing was my second favorite (Cub) minor leaguer after future HOFer Eric Patterson, I'd have to vote for him.
  11. Wait, so you drove him to the gas station and then he asked you for money anyway? WTF?
  12. I have to say that while Jim Boeheim was already high on my list of top college coaches, his outburst at the press conference after the Cincy game that he might be my favorite coach now. He seems to be more mild-mannered than most college coaches these days, yet here was a time when his best player was coming under unfair criticism, and Boeheim showed some fire and dropped a few expletives at the press conference. I really respect the X's and O's aspect of Boeheim's coaching, but even more than that, he went outside of his personality to stick up for a guy who has been a consistent contributor to his team for four solid years. Syracuse won't win the NCAA tourney, but I will be rooting for them, and in large part this will be due to their underappreciated coach.
  13. Put in Holy Cross as an at-large... in the NIT, I mean.
  14. Word is, they are going to just put Jenks on a forklift and drive him out to the mound when he gets the call.
  15. Well when I saw the title of the thread and even moreso when I read what it was about, I immediately wondered how long it would take for someone to make a Jim Edmonds joke. And to nobody's surprise, not long at all!
  16. Didn't know one of those words was allowed... nor did I know that slurring homosexuals was allowed. I guess all in good fun, right? For the record, there are plenty of kids with rich parents in Florida driving around in Mustangs, Land Rovers, Escalades or other American cars/SUVs. Audi has hardly cornered the "preppy rich metrosexual" market.
  17. I don't really care about Barry Bonds, but anything that can be considered reality TV will not be watched by yours truly.
  18. Agreed, one of the best I have seen in quite a while.
  19. Because the title doesn't make sense? He was very good for a while, too bad he caught the injury bug and could never shake it.
  20. None of the above
  21. If Zogby can be entered as grounds in the debate, then so can the American Family Association. Why? Zogby conducted a poll, and an interesting one at that. I'm pretty sure the AFA does not have much to say or much insight to add about the situation in Iraq.
  22. Wait, so some tight end ran as fast or faster than all but 4 of the cornerbacks? Yikes. Watch him move way up based on phenomenal workout numbers and then turn out to be a colossal bust.
  23. No, the labrum is part of the shoulder... basically it is the tissue around the shoulder socket. And, my understanding is that a torn labrum is, right now, the worst injury that a pitcher can suffer. Worse than a torn rotator cuff or elbow ligament.
  24. Sweden wins gold in hockey!!! :willynilly:
  25. There are about 12 Robert Wuhl fans on the planet, and for some reason, they all happen to be Cubs fans and post on NSBB.
