  1. That's because a high percentage is not in the military and isn't close to someone who is.
  2. Can we all agree that Tom Lemming (ESPN recruiting guy) should not be associated with the Army All-American game; specifically, not be allowed to pick the rosters? It's just a little unethical to have a guy picking teams and then telling other schools' commits to attend Notre Dame, and to give rooming assignments such that guys who are considering ND are put with ND commits. Come on.
  3. He will... Notre Dame is becoming the place that everyone wants to go now. They're the new Duke or Yankees of college football.
  4. Last year I was really fighting the tide of Cub Kool-Aid drinkers (not saying you were one of them) when I believed the team possessed too many problems in the bullpen and in low OBP players to do well. From what I've read on this board so far, I think there are a few more people that will join me on the pessimistic side of the aisle.
  5. HELL YEAH The boys are back in the studio ... I need to re-up, it'll be time to buy tickets before we know it. Sweet, can't wait til they come out with some new music I can download off the internet without paying for it!
  6. I suggest you read the very funny and truthful book "True Believers" by Joe Queenan. He's a very avid sports fan who roots for the Philadelphia teams. Among the stories he tells is how after the Flyers blew a 3-1 series lead to the hated Devils in 2000, he got all the Philly sports memorabilia he could find and threw it in a big box, and gave it to Goodwill. He was trying to swear off sports forever. Then, he said he that 3 days later he watched the Pacers play the Lakers, and even though he wasn't a Pacers fan, he had to root for them because of how outmatched they were, and how Reggie Miller was doing all he could to keep his underdog team competitive. You'll probably find yourself trying to swear off the Cubs or some other team in your life, but it will never work. Sports fans can't help but root for their teams... it is just in the blood.
  7. I'd hold off on such lofty comparisons for Claussen. Not my words, Raisin. I've only seen two videos on the kid and he does look like he could start for some college teams next year already and, if given the choice, i would take him in two years over Mustain next since Brady is still here. However, with all the hype on the kid I wonder if it's even possible to live up to it. Hopefully he becomes the next Ron Pawlus, and I mean that in every way.
  8. Find a hobby that doesn't involve sports... as for me, I get to look forward to the Flyers getting my hopes up and then inevitably crushing them.
  9. You are correct with the title of this thread; unfortunately, the Cubs management is comprised of a bunch of idiots and does not agree with you.
  10. I say the Cubs finish 3rd or 4th in the Central, but are never really a factor in the race. The talent is just not there.
  11. The Pats are still a wonderful team, as close to a dynasty as we will ever see in the modern-day NFL. Now, no more Coors Light train commercials, for the love of God.
  12. Well with the Giants and Redskins out, once the Stillers get pounded by the Colts tomorrow, all the teams I dislike will be out of the playoffs.
  13. Weren't the Ravens favored by at least a few points over the Giants?
  14. Wouldn't shock me if the Skins just make Campbell the starter in the offseason and dump Brunell. Then again, Gibbs does like old players.
  15. Just take a knee Redskins, this game is over.
  16. Well, just think about Mike Martz not being your head coach any more... that should cheer you up.
  17. Tony Siragusa is a waste of space.
  18. Haha here comes the choke by the SeaChickens.
  19. Yeah Dick Stockton, the Skins are really going to try a 60 yard field goal in the rain with a kicker not known for having a strong leg.
  20. OK enough with the Patriots commercials, this game is two NFC teams.
  21. Oh how I hate the Coors Light train.
  22. Man, the Seahawks, if they survive this game, better hope that some of these injured players get healthy for next week.
  23. Bottom line, anything over 20 points scored total would be a pleasant surprise.
  24. Yeah, but they changed the rules after that year so that cornerbacks can't cheat, tackle, bite, mug, etc., WRs coming off the line of scrimmage. So Manning will not be that effective.
  25. Don't want to pay a guy who is late in his contract? Don't sign him that long. When you sign a guy to huge money through age 38, you run the risk of him becoming unproductive due to age or injury. The Astros knew that when they signed him, and now they don't want to take their medicine. Stay and play Jeff, if it's what you want to do, then you've earned it.
