  1. Jeez, nice offense WT. 5 hits in 20 innings?!?!?
  2. can't believe this idiot is still the cubs' manager
  3. This is not a good example at all. Notre Dame was 5-6 in 2001 and probably started out the season unranked in the polls. Here's how the other teams finished 2001: Miami: 12-0, National Champs Oklahoma: 11-2 VT: 8-4 UGa: 8-4 Ohio State: 7-5 Here's how those teams were ranked going into 2002, in the ESPN and AP polls: Miami: 1/1 Oklahoma: 3/2 VT: 16/16 UGa: 11/8 OSU: 12/13 ND: Unranked in both So it really has nothing to do with the respect of ND's program. The reason they were ranked #6 in both polls is that they started out the season far behind the other 5 teams in the polls, and were therefore not as highly regarded as those teams.
  4. So, what the dillyo?
  5. I'm gonna have to go ahead and sort of disagree with you there... Well, it does. A quick look at my guitar tab books shows that "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" has a tempo of 114 and "Kashmir" is at 80. But that should be evident just by the naked ear. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7ZjZX9_UUs (how you don't consider that a Rock song, I dunno. were you possibly thinking of the acoustic version that is on the Beatles Anthology CD?) Nope, I have the "normal" version on my computer. Well, nevertheless, "Kashmir"(my fav zep song) is slower than "WMGGW" I just find that strange because I played piano for 12 years, and WMGGW sounds slower to me than Kashmir. Maybe the songs have a different meter?

  8. Maybe we should move this poll to a Yankee fan site so that Cano can get at least one vote
  9. Most of "Stairway" does not rock; "Kashmir" is hardly slow, moody guitar.
  10. Are you saying that "WMGGW" is not a rock song?? That song has Eric Clapton going apesh*t on the guitar in it. I think it is one of their harder songs. Second, "she came in through the bathroom window" and "mean mr. mustard" are just as hard as most of the stuff the Rolling Stones or The Doors put out during that time. Drums banging, guitars jangling, and bass pumping. Yeah I was really confused by this. I assumed he was listing the songs that people would consider rock, but why the hell are Here Comes the Sun and Ob-La-Di on there. (While neglecting A LOT of others) And as you addressed, it just doesn't seem possible to me to consider While my Guitar Gently Weeps or She Came in Through the Bathroom Window as non-rock. maybe he just went and found the silliest or sappiest sounding song titles and assumed they weren't rock? yeah, maybe he just thinks that songs with slow, moody guitar do not rock
  11. i agree with you.. thats why that post from the other thread didnt make sence to me. sense
  12. I don't really care, I'd rather have a trash rotation with a bunch of young guys getting experience than have some loser like Glendon Rusch wasting everyone's time. At least now is a good time to figure out if guys can cut it in the big leagues, since the Cubs don't have to worry about winning.
  13. Why? Are you another who thinks of them as just their ed sullivan/ boyband days in 1964 singing "she loves you"? I don't like their sound at all. I don't like listening to them or hearing about them. but you like the all american rejects this isn't a thread about the Cubs
  14. Yeah honestly, I was thrilled to death that Albert Young made it down to my first round pick, which was #6 overall. And not just because he went to my high school. I had him rated #3 overall. The first 5 picks went: Troy Smith Tyrell Sutton (those were my first two) Drew Stanton Drew Tate Chad Henne which left me with what was, to me, an easy pick. Iowa's defense was in round 3 of 9, which may seem way early, but remember that there are only 11 defenses to pick from, and 9 teams in the league. To me, OSU, PSU, Iowa and Michigan were by far the top 4 defenses in the league - in that order. OSU and PSU had gone off the board before me, and I wasn't willing to risk getting stuck with a Wisconsin or Minnesota. Chandler I grabbed in round 4 as the first TE taken. I had a similar opinion of TE - basically, there was Chander, Tim Spaeth (Minnesota), Tyler Ecker (Michigan) and then a bunch of garbage. I was determined to get one of the top 4 defenses and one of the top 3 TEs, and I got that done. I also think I got some good steals, with Randle-El in round 7 and Thigpen - a starter, albeit at Indiana - in round 8. I also got Kevin Kelly when the next 4 people after me were each planning on picking him.
  15. Apparently nobody knows anything about Big Ten football. Here's how my team turned out. I'm thrilled about it... until you see the last guy. RB Albert Young, Iowa Marcus Thigpen, Indiana WR James Hardy, Indiana Shawn Herbert, Northwestern Marcus Randle-El TE Scott Chandler, Iowa K Kevin Kelly, Penn State D/ST Iowa QB Tim Brasic, Illinois :x Basically, 8 QBs were taken in our 9 team league, so I figured that I'd just grab Bryan Cupito late because everyone had a QB. Then someone drafted him as a backup to John Stocco, and I was screwed. I'm almost positive that I have the best team outside of QB... it just depends if Brasic can put up respectable numbers or not.
  16. I'll vote for The Who because I like them more than the Beatles.
  17. Yeah I had a hard time leaving that one off. There are too many good songs... something had to get bumped. I guess a couple that squeaked in my top 10 are there because I think they're really underrated songs.
  18. Boy, you're getting a lot of polls wrong today!
  19. OK fatty, take your pick. Which donut do you prefer? And sorry, Lard Lad Donuts is not an option.
  20. Oh man, now you did it! Shhh! doesn't matter, he's a cub... he's bound to suffer some debilitating injury at some point
  21. Great song. Quite possibly my favorite LZ song. Actually, I think it is. I'd have to say my top ten are 1 "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" 2 "Gallows Pole" 3 "In the Evening" 4 "Since I've Been Loving You" 5 "All my Love" 6 "Ramble On" 7 "The Battle of Evermore" 8 "D'yer Maker" 9 "Bron-y-aur Stomp" 10 "Kashmir" That was not easy.
  22. when i want to listen to rock i crank up led zep. that's why i love them. they are by leaps and bounds the greatest hard rock group of all time. again, I must ask in regards to your constant mocking. Have you ever even heard the White Album or Abbey Road?? Yeah, I've heard both of them. They "rock" more than the Beatles early stuff, but there's still plenty of songs that aren't exactly hard rock. Abbey Road has "Something", "Octopus's Garden", "Here Comes the Sun", "Mean Mr. Mustard" and "She Came in Through the Bathroom Window." The White Album has "Ob-La-Di" and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" - among others. Not exactly headbangers ball material. Sorry, but nothing you can say will make me consider the Beates to be, at best, a pop/rock hybrid.
  23. Yeah when I want to listen to some rock, I crank up the Beatles!!!!!!
  24. Not surprised he feels this way. Neyer is a big numbers guy, and Hill's numbers have been outstanding since he "figured it out" last year.
  25. Yeah, I was going to say after reading the article, Gardenhire specifically said that it was not the elbow. Change the thread title so people like me don't get unnecessarily scared.
