  1. Yeah, what are they going to do? Theriot to SS, I'd guess... Moore to 2B?
  2. ARam is up? Stupid Dusty, stop trying to win this game
  3. LOL, looks like Bynum knew what he had to do - find a way to get an L for the cubbies tonight
  4. Well, one game is over already... D-Rays gave up 9 to the Yankees in the first inning, including 6 runs knocked in by Bobby Abreu.
  5. I'm in 736th place. I had a solid week but like you, I was hurt by Longwell. Joey Galloway had a big week, and J.P. Losman did too (as expected).
  6. True, but I like him anyway. Dodgers have a pretty solid pitcher in Derek Lowe going tonight against Marshall, who pitched like crap last time out. Other Fecal League Action: TB: Corcoran (4-7, 3.96) @ NYY: Mussina (13-6, 3.72) --- not looking good for the D-Rays MIL: Capuano (11-10, 3.49) @ PIT: Chacon (6-5, 6.80) --- Chacon is horrible; probably a Pirates loss KC: Hernandez (5-9, 6.39) @ CLE: Sowers (7-3, 3.35) --- Another pitching mismatch I'll be happy if the Cubs can lose and even one other team wins... this does not look promising for the Cubs to make up ground on anyone.
  7. Tends to be the case unless the prospect was highly thought of. The vast majority of college draftees at the least start out in Rookie ball or Short Season A. Over the course of a season, some teams keep them there, other times they get promoted up the ladder. Depends on their success and what the team values in development. The Cubs tend to be more conservative with position players, but that could also be a result of the lack of really top notch hitters in the system. Criticizing Colvin because had a sub-.800 OPS is a bit deceptive, TT. If you said you were concerned with a guy who posted a .796 OPS in Short Season A, I'd understand and would have no quarrel. But the fact is, he was four points away from breaking the .800 mark. Would an .800 OPS on the mark have made that much of a difference in your assessment of him? I'm guessing the biggest problem that he has with the guy is the .313 OBP - pretty lousy for a guy who started 2.5 years at a major conference D-I program. Eric Patterson was an eighth round pick out of a major conference D-I program and put up a .400 OBP and 917 OPS playing at a higher minor league level.
  8. hopefully the bears, that would mean the Cubs have a real good shot at winning the fecal league. As long as the Bears keep playing trash like the Packers and Lions, that'll help them beat the Cubs in this poll.
  9. I got to go to the game tonight, and it was awesome. DLee got a huge ovation after his 2nd shot, even Braves fans cheered him. I don't think his wrist is hurting him all that badly. I'm very glad to see he's still got a lot of power. Wrist injuries are always scary - Sandberg, for one, was never the same hitter after his broken wrist, mostly because he didn't fully get his power back.
  10. ::Massive frustration:: Argh. Woulda been nice if Hill had ended the inning without any damage there. still a very solid outing, esp given the small strike zone tonight
  11. yeah, if you've already let him go to 110 and you've got 2 outs, it'd be silly to yank him in the middle of an at-bat.
  12. Yeah, the ACC is bad this year. Still, I think Tech knows they should get the ball to Calvin Johnson - it's just a matter of whether the QB is good enough to do so. By the way, Michigan State doesn't play well against ND and badly against everyone else. They play well the first half of the year and then completely collapse.
  13. Beats me. It was an attempted clip, but I don't think that's a penalty.
  14. ND didn't beat any good teams last year and we don't know how good Penn State and Michigan will end up being this year. You can't give a team credit for winning a game early in the season against a highly ranked team if that team ends up having an average year that year. It's just like with Pittsburgh and Michigan last year. Those games looked like big victories and many people continued to mention that Notre Dame beat Michigan when they were ranked #3 in the nation and they beat a ranked Pittsburgh team. Neither of those teams ended up being very good last year so why should ND get credit for beating a good team when said team ends up being no more than an average team. If Penn State finishes the year 5-6, it's obvious that ND's victory over them wasn't actually that impressive. I would argue that Notre Dame's victory over PSU is still pretty impressive even if they finish 5-6, just not as impressive. It doesn't get much more one-sided than 41-3. 17 I hate garbage-time TDs...if they're scored against my teams :D Well, I'd argue that the play was really not lopsided enough to warrant a 41-3 score. ND scored on pretty much all their chances and was bailed out by potential INTs that were dropped by Penn State - and Penn State botched one FG attempt and likely lost more points on a bogus clipping call.
  15. I'll repeat what someone said before - FAKE PUNT. Nobody said that Notre Dame scoring a TD there was shoddy sportsmanship; what they had a problem with was the use of a fake punt there. You people who don't have a problem with running up the score, I'm not sure why you're even debating this. If you're OK with a team continuing to pile on, then just leave it at that. I don't like it, you're fine with it, so we'll agree to disagree. And honestly, I don't really care enough about ND to bash just jump on them for any reason. I just don't like when one team tries to show up the other by running up the score, and I'm glad that I don't root for a team that does it.
  16. But ND up 3 scores. with 6:30 left, CLASSLESS. ND up by 7 points less against a better opponent with an extra minute and change on the clock, CLASSLESS.

  18. Considering ND has played the hardest schedule in the country - BY FAR - out of any top 25 team, being sarcastic about their schedule is going to fall on deaf ears. Find some other way to express your ND hatred, please. It's two games into the season. It's a little early to determine strength of schedule. We really don't know the level of the teams played other than opinions and last year's performance. Yeah, especially since conference teams generally play weaker teams before they head into their tougher in-conference schedule. There's no reason for ND to play an easier schedule early in the year because they aren't in a conference.
  19. haha, classic Drew Bledsoe
  20. ...says the guy who has 6 BB and 35 K in 106 AB.
  21. Pencil the Pack in for the #1 pick next spring? What an awful team.
