  1. After yesterday's game, E-Patt cracked the AFL top 10 in OBP and OPS!
  2. Ravaged, you mean? Ravished by injuries, I dont know what to make of that  I've seen a lot worse than this. Plax may well play, so they may have their starting QB, RB and top WR. Toomer really isn't much better than Tim Carter or David Tyree at this point in his career. The offensive line is healthy, and Shockey will play. Defense they're in worse shape, especially on the line, but it's not the end of the world there either. Not to whine about last year, but the Eagles lost their starting QB, top 2 RB, top 2 receivers, 3 starting offensive linemen. On defense they lost 2 DT (1 starting), a starting DE, 1 starting linebacker LB and top CB. Even the punter got put on IR and the kicker missed significant time. That is a bad injury situation. The Giants are really nowhere close to that.
  3. Seems like a pretty good move, and it also seems like the Cubs are starting to bring in some people who actually are proponents of going to the plate with a plan in mind. I'm cautiously optimistic... cautious because this is the Cubs, after all.
  4. ooh good I forgot to do it, and I made up ground :D
  5. I'm sure Reds fans will have fun with the name for a little while.
  6. Oh btw it looks like E-Patt was 1-3 against lefties today. That's .333, so we can safely say his struggles against lefties have been resolved.
  7. Trash in the regular season into playoff ace. Only the friggin Cardinals...
  8. Isn't this blowing things a littlel out of proportion? .252 is not a horrible average, and if he's hitting well against righties and walking some against both, it's not a big deal. And yeah, .174 would be a concern except that it's a sample size of 23 ABs. In other news, Mesa leads Grand Canyon 21-3 in the 7th inning  E-Patt 3-6, 2 2B, 2 R, 2 RBI Moore 2-5, 1 2B, 3 R, 1 BB, 1 K Fox 3-5, 1 2B, 1 R, 6 RBI, 2 K Holdzkom pitched a hitless inning and struck out two.
  9. Just because USC beat them in Week 1? You're arguing that Arkansas going undefeated in the SEC doesn't deserve to be ranked above a USC team that lost to an unranked Oregon St. ? Every game matters. If two major conference teams both have one loss and Team A beat Team B, then why shouldn't Team A be ranked ahead? strength of schedule, conference record, when the game was, etc., etc., etc. Doesn't matter. Team A beats Team B. Do you remember the 2000 National Championship game between Oklahoma and Florida State? Well Miami handed Florida State their only loss that year but because it was early in the year and Miami lost later in the year, Florida State was incorrectly ranked higher in the polls. Miami should have played Oklahoma that year. USC should be ranked ahead of Arkansas if they both have the same number of losses. I don't really understand how there could be a better factor for which team is ranked higher under the circumstances (both with one loss) than the head to head result. In your 2000 thought process, you missed one thing. Florida State did lose to 11-1 Miami, but Miami lost to 11-1 Washington. Washington under that logic should have played for the national title, not Miami. But then they lost to Oregon... we could go on and on with this. There really is no way to solve it without guessing which was the best team at the end of the year.
  10. Two more: one for the negotiations with Boras and another announcing the signing. Don't forget the Cy Young, WS game thread, HOF threads. Well, that would be assuming that the Cubs don't sign him.
  11. ESPN Cubs message boards. A poster named davemason2k has all the scoops.
  12. hahahaha... yeah I know their best player (Claxton) is out for a few weeks, but give me a break. And to think some people were telling me PSU would make the NCAA tourney this year.
  13. Real tutoring programs, or programs like those formerly at UcheaT, where people just did homework and papers for the athletes?
  14. ooh, .415 OBP.... me likey
  15. Holy cross is tradtionally a tough 1st round out, aren't they? Yeah, played Kentucky to a 4 point game in '01, led Kansas midway thru the second half in '02, and were tied with Marquette in '03 with about 2 minutes left in the game. Kentucky and Kansas made the Final Four in '02 and '03. One of these years we'll break through, but we have to do it before our coach leaves or retires. He's good.
  16. E-Patt 3-5 with a double, SB and a strikeout today... Moore was 1-3 with 2 walks and 1 K. Piggy and Rapada each struck out two batters in one inning of work.
  17. maybe the Cubs are putting together a college of coaches again
  18. she can say whatever she wants; she's going to lose tomorrow.
  19. Who cares about these crap teams like Kansas, Illinois and Missouri. What about HOLY CROSS? OK, so nobody cares, but I think they'll be pretty good this year. And, I'll get to watch them twice on TV this year - at Syracuse on 11/27 on ESPNU, and a December 6 made-for-TV slaughter at Duke on ESPN2. Both the games against Bucknell (probably the best team in the conference) will be on ESPNU as well.
  20. maybe we can trade him for a young, unknown coach who will turn out to be a Hall of Famer
  21. Actually if they beat Temple (or when they beat Temple) and Michigan State, they'll be going to the Outback Bowl. That's a real good bowl game... CFN has Penn State playing LSU in that game. If they lose to MSU, then they slide down to some of the middling bowls like the Alamo or Champs Sports Bowl.
  22. They're number 25. But I have a hard time believing they're better than a lot of the 3 loss teams from power conferences. I saw them play against B.C., and the teams were very even. B.C. was very, very lucky to get away from that game with the win in double OT. They also lost to 4-5 Arizona, and their best win thus far is either TCU or Tulsa. Those are both good wins. Those are both two-loss teams, and TCU was undefeated and nationally ranked at the time, plus the game was at TCU. Those are weak 2 loss teams, and one of their losses itself was a bad loss to a bad Pac-10 team. If BYU runs the table then they deserve more credit, but right now they still have yet to play the 3 best teams in their conference(besides themselves of course), so their schedule is lacking. First game of the year. Haven't a lot of people said we shouldn't punish Arkansas for getting absolutely crushed at home by USC in September, because they're a lot better now than they were back then?

B.C. was very, very lucky to get away from that game with the win in double OT. and that was a noon game with the western team having to travel all the way across the country for the road game
  25. BYU is a good team. IMO, probably one of the top 25 teams, but since they're in the Mountain West and have 2 losses they won't get ranked.
