  2. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/05/12/ron-washington-may-have-ordered-the-worst-intentional-walk-ever-yesterday/ summary: ron washington issues intentional walk to david ortiz, with a baserunner on third and one out, with a left handed pitcher on the mound, in the first inning. spoiler: this was a bad move.
  3. the offseason rankings of bruno outside the top 30 are starting to look pretty dumb.
  4. digging in aganist this cleto guy must be terrifying.
  5. Just now. Are you following the game? Before that. Do you get hit a lot when interacting with people face to face? kyle interacting with people face to face, good one
  6. pierce johnson has shown a lot better control the last two starts; that's good since he's probably our best prospect currently pitching in the minors.

  8. yeah, if you looked at just his MiLB line, you'd be wondering how the hell his OBP. i think he's only walked 7 times in 25 games, which generally doesn't translate to a >.100 IsoD (unless you've been hit by pinch 10 times).
  9. jonathan quick got revenge by punching perry in the dick. http://d3j5vwomefv46c.cloudfront.net/photos/large/851640878.gif?1399346530

  11. i would complain about henderson alvarez throwing a complete game shutout against me tonight, but i won last week despite my entire starting pitching staff [expletive] the bed, so i probably am in line for some bad luck.
  12. i wish baez could breathe this good hitting out of vitters, like that green mile guy.
  13. This is really encouraging to hear and I hope it's legit and means something. the impression i've gotten is that the "he will move to right field" comes from the fact that he has a bat that projects to play well in RF, and he looks more like a RF than a 3B because of his height. i haven't read anything to suggest that he's been below-average defensively at 3B during his (brief) time in the minors.
  14. pretty happy about this. i picked him to have a breakout year - not a huge year but at least one in which he is among the top third of catchers in baseball. given how pathetic the cubs' minor league catchers are, it would be really helpful if castillo could hold down that position and do it well for a few years.
  15. it's not tough to be the last undefeated team. balllllllerrrrrrr
  16. well, the outcome is essentially decided with more than an hour left to play. maybe it's historically interesting but it doesn't make the rest of this match very exciting.
  17. i'm on night shift and the bayern munich-real madrid match is on. was hoping for a good match; instead it's 2-0 within 20 minutes and bayern munich now need 4 goals to go through. boring.
  18. is that it? if you try to go to the clippers home page it just redirects to there, and there's no option to click on anything. weird.
  19. For not hustling on a ground ball back to the pitcher he was thrown out by 60 feet on. if he had hustled he could've only been out by 30 feet! you get extra points for that right.
  20. i took a read through this thread and my reaction is, "i kind of wish kyle was dead."
  21. pierce johnson turning into steve blass.
  22. Like I said they are wasting 20 million, a lot of which they added in the last 2 off seasons. They probably would have been forced to play some of these younger players all of last year, but would they really be that much worse off with them? Its water under the bridge at this point anyway. It is just that in recent times the Wings have way over-valued veteran depth guys, while under valuing players in their own system. So they ended up paying way more for depth than they should have. Until this year when the youngsters were forced on them. If they were not paying the likes of Cleary, Samuelsson, Bertuzzi, Kindl, Weiss, Colavacchio, Tootoo, Miller, Quincey and others, there would be plenty of room to have added elite talent. Heck my biggest fear right now is that the Wings will re-sign Quincey and Legwand to 3+million for multiple years and our big hope for next season will be that Datsyuk and Zetts will stay healthy and youngsters will improve. I just rant like this because I think Holland is over-rated in some ways. Obviously he is good at drafting and player development, but kind of bad at taking advantage of that strength. I also look at a team like the Hawks and they went ballz out and signed Hossa when it made no sense at all. In the end, it wasn't that hard to replace Eager, Ladd, Buff etc etc. But it would be very difficult to get a player the same level as Hossa. well yeah, they would've had room for those guys if they didn't make all those other signings, but a lot of those contracts were signed years ago. realistically, it would've been hard for a team with two $7m cap hit guys (zetterberg/datsyuk) to sign another two $7m cap hit guys. the other issue was that there was a lot of competition for both players. almost everyone was in on suter and parise had a lot of suitors as well.
  23. why did arrieta only go 2 innings?
  24. i really do not see how the red wings could have signed parise and suter. those guys have a combined cap hit of $16m and the red wings were pushing right up against the cap this season.
