  1. those three came to mind, plus mauer and votto (don't think votto would have a career .320 BA though).
  2. it says something about lake only hitting fastballs, but i think two of his four spring training home runs have come on curveballs. problem is, they were big looping belt-high curveballs and he was sitting on those pitches. one doesn't get the impression that he can really do much against a solid breaking pitch that he's not looking for. hopefully he does get a full season of playing time so the cubs can figure out if they really have something with him.
  3. my picks: a: chris davis b: jose bautista, jay bruce c: giancarlo stanton, anthony rizzo, bryce harper d: yasiel puig, albert pujols, fatt adams, wil myers, josh willingham wc: pm'ed
  4. i haven't really been paying attention, but what do they see grimm's future role as? i know there was some speculation that his stuff could play up in shorter bursts, and he pitched out of the pen in september. i like that the organization has piled up a lot of good arms, but it's kind of concerning that you keep hearing that guys may play better in the pen due to inconsistent command or mediocre stuff for a starter.

  8. i'm amazed that i saw jason giambi's name in a spring training box score.
  9. I lol'd apparently his $875k bonus has somehow turned into $3m a year.
  10. 20th straight loss for the sixers!!! \:D/ =D>
  11. I'm on my mobile in Adelaide so I cant draft, and then iI'llbe ddriving across the bush for several days. So if someone can put me on auto draft that would be cool.
  12. +61450271453. nobody is going to want to text me given international text rates, but if you have what's app or viber i'm on there and you can message me for free that way.
  13. i'm sure matt carpenter will be a 7 win player again.
  14. i've reached the point where if he ends up not being a good player, i'm going to be really depressed by that.
  15. I doont know why you think the NBA draft tends to be predictable. Its hilariously unpredictable. How often in the NFL do teams learn that a top 5 pick flat out does not belong in the league? That happens beasically every draft in the NBA. If you look at the 2011 draft, picks 11-20 are better than 1-10. Once you get to pick 7 or 8 there is a 50% chance that the team wont end up picking up the 4th year option. Dont say "build through the draft". Say "happen to get a top pick in a year with a future superstar". If the 76ers have been in NBA hell what kind of NBA hell is cleveland in? They have a roster of lottery picks. Its just that so many guys that go in the top 10 end up being horrible pros. cleveland didn't draft well. and the 2011 draft, despite being unusually poor, yielded easily its best player with the first overall pick. fact of the matter is, you don't tend to get a franchise cornerstone outside the top 5 picks.
  16. the funny thing is, the sixers are doing what the fans have wanted them to do for a while. let's face it, unless you somehow manage to be a cool place to play and get some monster free agents (heat) or be run by geniuses (spurs), it's hard to build a winner without drafting really well. and the nba draft tends to be the most predictable of the drafts. you generally have to be drafting early to get a future superstar. the sixers have been stuck in a perpetual cycle of either barely missing the playoffs or barely making them and then getting blown out by the heat or celtics or whoever. at least now they can go for a clean slate and try to build like okc did. meanwhile, the sixers got blown out (again) by the wizards, allowing 74 points in the first half. TREVOR ARIZA scored 40 for God's sakes. the sixers are allowing 8 ppg more than any other team in the east and have lost their last 13 games by an average of 17 points. the best part is, they still get to do this for another 20+ games!
  17. fwiw, i'm like 90% sure that i'll be driving across the nullarbor from adelaide to perth from tuesday march 11th to saturday march 15th. mobile service pretty much doesn't exist out there for like 1000 miles so at least for the middle three days i would expect to not be around for drafting.
  18. that was a bomb, just to the left of the 420 sign. looking forward to seeing a lot of that.
  19. well they could be. they're likely to have two more lottery picks in the offseason draft, plus a [expletive] load of 2nd round picks and tons of cap space. but for this year, they have a pathetic roster and are going to lose a lot.
  20. the sixers are going to win like 2 games the rest of the year. their roster is AWFUL.
  21. the sixers seem to have acquired two 2nd round picks and someone named eric maynor for nothing. the sum of the sixers' trades: Sixers Trade: Spencer Hawes Evan Turner Lavoy Allen Conditional 2014 2nd Round Draft Pick (top 55 protected, so it won't be dealt because the sixers are going to finish like last) $16,339,867 in cap Sixers Acquire: Earl Clark (already has been cut) Henry Sims Eric Maynor Byron Mullens Danny Granger Cavaliers 2014 2nd Round Draft Pick Grizzlies 2014 2nd Round Draft Pick Pelicans 2015 2nd Round Draft Pick Warriors 2015 2nd Round Draft Pick Nuggets 2016 2nd Round Draft Pick Clippers 2018 2nd Round Draft Pick $21,235,695 in cap
  22. when's the draft
