  1. i know they like to take it slow with advancing prospects, but he has to be called up to iowa pretty soon. what's the point in letting him destroy the southern league for another month or two?
  2. he's also leading the league in batting average, obp and slg, and his ops is almost 200 points higher than the next-best qualified batter in the southern league.
  3. it's not like the other team is even pitching badly. the smokies only have 4 hits, and 3 are by bryant. yesterday the smokies walked 6 times, and 4 of those were bryant. he's just terrorizing the league.
  4. bryant first pitch double to left... hitting .400 for may with a 1.229 ops.
  5. bruno flied out in his at bat in the top of the first, then was replaced in the field to start the bottom of the inning. #-o
  6. rivero gave up a game-tying home run in the 9th. tennessee has impressively scored one run in 9 innings while leaving 15 runners on base. i'm trying to think how most people would rank bryant if they had to do a top 5 of all minor league prospects. buxton has been hurt most of this year but would probably still be on top. taveras has been very good at memphis and probably would still be ahead. i would guess that a lot of people would now put bryant above baez. bogaerts has graduated, sano is out for the year, archie bradley has been lousy and has an elbow strain, addison russell tore his hamstring, and lindor has been typical lindor - very solid numbers at a high level for his age. maybe jonathan gray and gregory polanco could also be in the discussion of prospects ranked ahead of bryant?
  7. Seems they've been that way for a while now. Their lineup has been Posey, Sandoval, and the seven dwarves every year since 2010. OPS+ since 2012: pagan: 121 pence: 121 belt: 133
  8. i wish his last name really was Flaberty, that would be pretty funny.
  9. bryant's plate appearances: #1: foul tip, foul, ball, ball, strike swinging (K) #2: foul, swinging strike, ball, foul, ball, ball, ball (walk) #3: ball, foul, ball, ball, ball (walk) #4: strike called, ball, foul, foul, foul, ball, ball, ball (walk) #5: ball, ball, ball, strike swinging, ball (walk) dude is going to wear pitchers out. can't wait. btw his may OPS is 1.203.
  10. corey black didn't allow any runs in 5.1 innings, but he did walk 4 batters and only half of his pitches were strikes. (99 pitches, 49 strikes)
  11. iowa is probably going to be rained out. :x
  12. i'd really like to see rafael lopez get some time in the big leagues later this year... maybe start to figure out if we've got a solid backup catcher on our hands.
  13. yeah, in the case of polanco the pirates were basically offering them a long term deal that bought out all of his arbitration years and maybe went a year or two into free agency. then polanco would've gotten to come up and play right away. instead he gets to hang out in indianapolis beating up on the international league for another month. ideally, this dopey system would go away in the next CBA so that small market teams and bad teams aren't being given a strong financial incentive to keep really good prospects in the minors leagues for a longer time.
  14. BP has the perfect game draft today. 1. aiken 2. jackson 3. kolek 4. 5. gordon 6. hoffman 7. freeland 8. nola 9. zimmer 10. toussaint 12. conforto 15. beede 17. trea turner 19. pentecost 22. fedde
  15. http://ftw.usatoday.com/2014/05/an-espn-anchor-was-utterly-baffled-by-a-european-soccer-graphic lol
  16. vogelbach hit a home run in the first game of a doubleheader. maybe i need to bag on his power more often.
  17. he's almost leading the league in avg, obp and slg. just a few points behind the batting average leader.
  18. dan vogelbach has 8 extra base hits in 41 games.
  19. wtf has happened to ben wells' control this year?
  20. pretty sure the results the pitcher gets matter too i'm also pretty sure that when discussing the quality of cub teams for the next five years, we should look at how good the current team is, and the run differential would suggest that the current cub team is not nearly as bad as its record would indicate.
