  1. this is awful listening to the cards broadcast.... i'm close to watching this on mute
  2. ah who let this moron become a mod? i mean... :P
  3. I'll be one of the "Cedeno1's". His #'s deserve him atleast another chance. "deserve him" another chance? off to the TOEFL for you.
  4. He will. And why in the world are you so certain? You probably assume Murton's numbers guarantee him success, yet Ronny's mean nothing? Laughable. Murton was a good hitter in nearly a full year of big league experience; Ronny was one of the worst hitters in baseball. Murton controls the strike zone well; Ronny generally doesn't. Why is this laughable?
  5. or they could call up that outfielder guy who has already proven that he can be an above-average hitter against big league pitching, put him in rf, derosa at 2b and theriot/fontenot at ss.
  6. Slumping? His power is a little down over the last couple of weeks, but I would hardly call him slumping. He's slumping because he has a .294/.318/.341/.659 line in 20 July games, with a 15/3 K/BB ratio. My prediction is that his poor strike zone judgment gets exploited just like it was last year. After seeing that line, I'm not too confident that Cedeno will be able to hit well with the big club right now. Maybe the Cubs are showcasing him for a possible deal? if they wanted to showcase him, you do it when he's playing well. And you give teams more than a week to see him, since most other GMs don't employ the Jim Hendry "See A Guy Play Well Three Times and Salivate Over Him" method of team-building.

  8. I'd definitely go with Hill as the third starter. Marquis and to some extent Marshall have stuff that good-hitting teams may be able to exploit. When Hill is pitching his best, he can mow down good lineups as well as bad ones. But yeah, the whole concern about our starting pitching is a little silly. Almost every team in the NL wishes they had five starters like the five that the Cubs have. And just as an aside, Pedro Martinez may be in the mix for the Mets.
  9. Boise is trashing Spokane 14-4. Donaldson had the day off, but Dylan Johnston has gone 5-5 with a pair of doubles and (even more amazingly) no errors. He also stole a base. Drew Rundle is 2-4 with a triple, walk and 4 runs scored. Jonathan Wyatt is 3-6 with two doubles. Tony Thomas is 2-6 with a double, and has struck out twice. And, in a sure sign that he's with the wrong organization, Ty Wright is 0-1 with 5 walks.
  10. he's the textbook definition of mediocre utility player.
  11. umps hardly ever call that... it really should be called a lot more often.
  12. these teams are trying to out-cub each other
  13. this one is about to be over
  14. i wouldn't say that... the reds might be able to play until wednesday and not score.
  15. looks like another piss-poor inning for the reds offense
  16. loud fly ball off the end of the bat.
  17. offer krivsky of ohman, eyre and pignatiello, maybe he'll give us harang.
  18. what a game for harang... i never thought he'd be this good.
  19. corey hart versus aaron harang... ugly contest
  20. boy graffanino missed a meatball of a curve
  21. great, another rally by the bottom-of-the-order brewer turds
  22. not one of Billy Beane's best trades: Aaron Harang, Jeff Bruksch (minors) and Joe Valentine to the Cincinnati Reds for Jose Guillen.
  23. boy if that inning was any indication, the reds aren't going to be scoring.
  24. not bad for Veal. Did give up 5 runs, but none earned (he made an error and so did Matt Craig). He did hit one batter and give up 3 hits, but the K/BB (7/0) was excellent. A much better outing for him; hopefully he can harness his stuff.
