From a run-prevention standpoint, Peralta’s profile paired a high strikeout rate with a FIP close to his ERA. Boyd’s season line showed comparable FIP to ERA with fewer walks and a lower home-run rate.

Kinda iffy with starting Boyd here, I get Counsell thinking with hoping to get 3 or 4 out of him today and then he'll have normal rest if there a Game 4 and also have Imanaga for Game 5 if needed, but I kinda felt with Peralta going for them this game would be a tough one to win as it was.  I just figured if they lose today then at least the Cubs would have a well rested Boyd and Imanaga with extra days rest going for them in Games 2 and 3, then have Taillon for Game 4 and then Boyd with regular rest for 5.

We'll see how it works out, obviously bats have to produce, hopefully Peralta will be a little wild and rusty with only having pitched 2 innings since he went 5 on September 22nd and the bats can take advantage early.

The only thing I can see as a reason for Boyd today is he can then pitch again in game 4, at Wrigley, on normal rest. If the Cubs can steal one I. Milwaukee I think they can close it out in Chicago with Tailon, who has been our best the last ) starts, and Boyd at home. But if they go to game 5 all hands on deck. Might not even be Imanaga. Anything goes.

Ben Brown in the year vs Milwaukee:

    11 IP, 9K, 2 ER, 2BB

While small sample stuff is what it is he has been successful in two starts against them this year. He won't be counted on for much, but for a neutral splits team (even with the BABIP as Bertz pointed out) his success probably a small benefit here.

He can be dominant with his fastball and curve. And if you use him it's likely only for an inning or two, but his length could be important in any extra inning game.

Cubs have two lefties as well and the Padres were much worse against LHP than RHP.

The Brewers also seem to be a relatively weaker team against fastballs, so adding another with velo to the pen could pay dividends

Not a fan of adding Brown. But willing to acknowledge the coaching staff knows better than we do. So if they feel he is the guy I trust them.

I'd be shocked if throws a pitch in a close game. He's there if we're up a ton or down a ton.

They really need to figure out a way to get Ballesteros in these line ups. They score 6 runs over 3 games and just keep marching the same lineup out there.

Who are you replacing for Mo though ?

Tucker is DH, Busch is 1B, Kelly is C

Even if Tucker is back in RF, are you taking Suzuki out now?

I mean at least get him in to PH or something. Have the Cub pinch hit a single time?

He doesn’t add a ton of value in a short series with multiple days off.

To me the Cubs are playing house money, all eyes, all pressure on the Brewers.  Don't know if means anything or if it'll be a positive for the Cubs but, hell, at least they have this.
