An interesting trade offer would be Wood + good prospect for Abreu. Too bad Wood has a NTC. That's why if I were a GM I would never give those things out.

This thread is for trades that won't happen. And Abreu won't be had for less than at least Prior or Z, which I'm not willing to give up as aren't MOST cubs fans, so we could through everything else at em including pie and pawelek and they wouldn't trade him. They want a front line starter.

 

Therefore:

 

A trade that won't happen is the Cubs sending anyone to the Phils for Abreu (not counting Z or Prior - because they are the only two that might bring a deal to fruition).

I get that they want a front line starter, and my point will be way off the point you are trying to make, but despite their desire for a frontline starter, other deals besides Z or Prior could net us Abreu (Lee and Ramirez). I wouldn't want that, but theoretically it could go down.
