Hard to project there, I would rather have Castillo over Walker though. Much of Walker's offense last year was negated by his defense. While defense is the least of the big 3 that need improving, Castillo and someone like Furcal or hopefully Cedeno would improve the defense up the middle.

The White Sox have interest in acquiring Juan Pierre, perhaps for Damaso Marte and/or Aaron Rowand.

It doesn't make a lot of sense, but with multiple sources reporting the story, there must be some truth to it. Pierre is both a worse player than Rowand and the more expensive of the two. Plus, he'd only be under the club's control for one year. If the White Sox do decide they need Pierre to go along with Scott Podsednik, they should at least refuse to give up Rowand in the deal and try to use him to upgrade elsewhere. Nov. 19 - 1:17 pm et

Article mentions that Furcal is likely to stay with Atlanta. Now, if we miss out on Pierre and Furcal... ?

Does the SunTimes even have a columnist that is unbiased? La Duca would help write that story, is a White Sox fan. So of course, he going to say "But the White Sox have the better goods to lock up Pierre," or "Though the Cubs are expected to be Furcal's second choice, indications are strong he will return to the Atlanta Braves," that's because it was written by a White Sox fan disguised as a columnist, instead of an unbiased columnist. And I seriously doubt he has "heard sources" that says Furcal is going back to Atl. My guess is...because the Braves are on a tighter fical lease, they will be target Hoffman (remember Kolb and Resitma bombed last yr) and perhaps Lugo. If not they have cheaper options at SS, Pena, Jr...Betemit, etc. The Braves have said they make retaining Furcal a "priority" is nothing more then a PR move to help soften theblow of losing Furcal.
