I don't know if it has been mentioned or not but what I am going to say pretty much sums the seasons:

(If I added it up correctly, mind you)

The Cubs are 22-21 against the Reds/Pirates/Brewers ](*,) . That ain't bad to most teams, but considering the Cubs are---as of October 1---19-11  #-o against the Cards and the Astros this season, that makes the 22-21 more shockingly bad.

I hate to add fuel to the fire, but that is mindboggling.

Still, overall, a winning record against the Central.

Now if you want a headache, go look at the record vs. the East

The only team that the Cubs have a losing record against that I would say they are a better team than is Arizona. I wouldnt say that the Cubs are better than either Milwaukee or Cinncinnati.

I'd say the 6 game gap between us and Cincy, plus the talent level on the two teams makes us better than them.

So you're admitting they aren't as good as Milwaukee?

I think it's because good teams usually have good pitching, and good pitchers usually throw strikes. Cubs swing at anything, but it's still easier to hit a pitch in the zone. Bad pitchers don't throw strikes and the Cubs will still swing at them.

I'm not sure. They lost against them and won fewer games total, but I'm not sure if things would stay the same if they played the season over again(in other words, things out of either team's control may have played a part). I am pretty sure that we'd still fare better than the Reds if we did it all over again.

it's hard to argue that we are better than the reds. they whipped us. the 6 games was much closer 2 weeks ago like 1-2 games and then griffey had surgery, and i'm sure they played sone different players at the end while dusty went balls out to get to .500. i'm sure the reds were not concerned about how close they were to the cubs but rather in seeing if some kids might help them next year....kinda like what the cubs should have done.

we pounded pittsburgh and cincy and milwaukee beat on us... it's truly sadthat we have a 100 mil payroll and we have to argue if we were better than cincy.
