I assume he got through waivers. Just bring Murton up, put Lawton in rf, and get a decent prospect for Burnitz. It's not like he's helping the team anymore. He has to be one of the worse middle of the order hitters in the NL. If Murton starts to struggle against righties, just play Hairston or Holla in lf.

Lawton is pitiful defensively. There is no way I would want him in right. Teams run on him all of the time when he is in left. Also, I'm just not really a fan of his.

That is one weak/powerless outfield. I would like to see Murton out there, though.

I'd like to see them go w/ this lineup the rest of the way. Lawton, Murton, Lee, ARam, Nomar, Walker, Patterson & Barrett..

If Murton struggles, then you guys can blame the Cubs for bringing him along too quickly. ;)

I agree the season is lost and Burnitz is just blocking guys like Pie and Murton, but I dunno who would want him. What's he worth? He looks clueless up there right now.

Lawton was a desparation trade and he hasnt brought squat to the table. A waste of a prospect.

Desperation? They gave up Jody Gerut, who's basically a 4th outfielder, for him. It was a calculated gamble given Lawton's 2nd half struggles in the past, and it's not paying off. I definitely wouldn't call it a waste, it was worth the shot to upgrade.

Yeah, at the end of the day, I don't see Gerut as any great loss. Essentially we dealt DuBois for Lawton; also not a bad deal.

He isn't blocking Pie. Felix is probably out of the year.

Based on the minor league director's (Oscar something - I can never remember his last name) comments in today's Trib, there's an outside shot that he could get a Sept. call up. He's supposed to start playing this week, of I remember right.

Trade Lawton too.

We are out of the race, so if Murton struggles against righties just keep playing him anyway. At this point any AB that goes to Holla is a waste. He ought to be DFA'd, he sucks and Dusty doesn't even play him anymore. Lawton and Burnitz should be traded immediately. Finish the season with Patterson/Hairston/Murton in the OF, and hopefully Pie somewhere in the mix.

Please, please no Pie until September of 2006. At this point, I wouldn't mind seeing Patterson getting only spot starts the rest of the way. Ideally, I'd like him playing winter ball somewhere.

I wouldn't mind seeing Hairston the everyday starter in cf next year, if, and only if, the Cubs are able to use money and trades to get two stud corner outfielders.

who would want him? is there a clause in his contract that makes his option for next year automatic

I'm sure a few of the potential playoffs team could use him. He's an insurance policy on the bench.
