Theriot with a bases-clearing ... double? up the middle -- he goes to 3rd on the throw home!

3 runs score!!!

Bacon scores from 1st, sliding beneath the pitcher's tag.

There will be an error somewhere on the play ... on the CFer. Theriot credited with 2RBIs.

Jeff Jones, the Mobile pitcher, is coming out of the game with an injury (spiked hand?) after the trainer goes out.

Rusty Tucker in to pitch for Mobile.

Even after a losing streak the Jaxx are only 3 out coming into today. If the Jaxx can win the 2nd half they get an extra playoff game in Jackson. Let's go Jaxx!

The skies open up in Jackson! ha ha

Don't want to give it away but there's going to be another q & a posted today. A guy having a pretty good season in the Minor Leagues has agreed to do a session!

Ryan Harvey back in tonight's starting lineup. Hamstring still bothering him but he is gonna give it a go as the DH, batting 3rd!

=D> Thanks Nathan!

That's great news!

He didn't waste any time & blasted a 2-run HR in the 1st inning (#22)! :D

2-2 tie in Chiefs game, bottom 8 ...

but runner at 3rd, 1 out for South Bend.

Bonifacio (SB) went from 1st to 3rd on a sac bunt when no one was covering 3rd (all converging for the bunt).

Billek pitched well, 5.1IP, 2R, 1ER.

ETA: The boxscore just updated to show both Billek runs now as earned runs ...

4-2 Silver Hawks to the 9th.

South Bend scores twice in the 8th on 4 walks and a wild pitch.

ETA: Chiefs lose, 4-2

DAYTONA DRILLS DODGERS IN 11-4 BLOWOUT

The Cubs Surged Ahead With A Four-Run Fourth Inning And Didn’t Look Back

By Bo Fulginiti

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla—It’s amazing how a little help from your friends can go an awfully long way.

It certainly did for J.R. Mathes (9-7) on Wednesday night at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.

After two shaky innings on the mound in his 21st start of the season, Mathes found an abundance of offensive support from his teammates and he fed off their spark, as he settled in to go six strong innings and earn his ninth win of the season as the Cubs cruised to the win by a final of 11-4.

Mathes allowed just two earned runs on nine hits while striking out six, and he silenced the Dodger bats in each of his final four frames of work while Daytona did their damage at the plate.

The Cubs were keyed by a pair of four-run innings in both the fourth and six, and the evening was highlighted by a pair of two-run homeruns from first baseman Brian Dopriak and designated hitter Jake Fox.

Daytona also received another shining performance at the plate from Issmael Salas, who went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored to lead the charge.

Vero Beach starter Julio Pimentel (8-8) lasted just 3.1 innings and gave up seven earned runs on seven hits as he was charged with the loss.

With the win the Cubs clinched the series victory and improved to 24-27 on the second half, as the Dodgers fell to 31-20. The two teams will meet for the series finale on Thursday night at “The Jack” in a match up of two All-Stars, as the Cubs send righty Randy Wells (7-2, 3.36 ERA) to the hill to face Dodgers lefty Chuck Tiffany (10-6, 3.71 ERA).

First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. EST.

For selfish reasons I actually would like to have a couple playoff games played at Carolina (the booming metropolis of Zebulon). However, I won't complain about an extra home game as long as there's at least one game in Carolina I can go to.

FWIW if there is a Sunday game in Zebulon there is a possibility that I may be able to attend. I'm tentatively scheduled to be in NC September 9-11.
