You should rub in the fact that you beat me. Everyone else does!

Nice game for Wellemeyer. He went gave up 3 runs (2 earned) in 6 innings on 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4. He did surrender a HR, though.

JVB had an interesting ninth inning but picked up his 21st save to preserve the 6-5 win.

Peoria: RHP Sean Gallagher (12-4, 2.24) vs. RHP Michael Schlact (8-5, 4.48)

Tonight's game is the last regular-season game between Peoria and Clinton. Clinton has already clinched the season series.

Gallagher has faced Clinton twice this season:

Date Dec IPs H K BB Rs ERs
April 14 L, 1-1 5.0 4 3 1 3 0
May 27 W, 5-1 6.0 3 8 2 0 0

The LumberKings have hit .175 / .267 / .200. vs him.

Matchups:

J Fasano (L) - 3/5, 3 singles

E Frostad (L) - 0/5, K

T Hulett (L) - 1/3, double, 2Ks

A Wishy (L) - 0/4, BB

Ryan Harvey out of the Chiefs lineup tonight with a tight hamstring, which he received treatment for earlier today. It's his first game off in the second half.

Eric Patterson will bat 3rd and Bo Flowers cleanup tonight.

Jaxx up 3-0 after 4 1/2.

Ron is going to talk about Sullivan's article on Pie's return after the break...

Theriot with the diving stop but he can't make the play. Ryu's no-no ends after 4 1/3.

Felix is still in Mesa. Ron laughed at Paul's line about Pie being called up on September 1st.

Good luck with that, Ron!! :D

2-run shot "over the comprehensive rehab sign" for Eric Patterson!!! Aaron Smith doubled in Luis Rivera in the previous at-bat.

Gallagher gave up 2 runs in the first on a solo shot, double and single.

The Clinton crowd sounds rowdy.

3-2 Chiefs, bottom 3rd.

Atlee gives up a ringing 2-run double to Jason Hill to tie the game at 3 in the 8th. Abercrombie coming up.

Ugh. McGehee charged a groundball and the throw went under Craig's glove. Hill comes in to score on the E5 and the Mudcats have rallied for 4 runs to take the lead.

With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Ramos fielded a safety squeeze but his throw got away from Craig at first. The Diamond Jaxx lose 5-4.

Ouch. :x

Chiefs win, 8-3. They move to 22-24 in the 2nd half and make up some ground in the second-half playoff race. They also wrap up a 4-2 road trip.

Gallagher picks up the win, moving to 13-4. He's again tied for the league lead in wins. He lived dangerously throughout the game, but pitched out of trouble after the first inning. Strange mix of Ks and 4-pitch walks. Sounded like he was throwing his changeup regularly.

5IPs, 5Hs, 5Ks, 4BBs, 2Rs, 2ERs, 83 pitches ---> ERA 2.29, WHIP 1.06

Luis Rivera went 4-4 and raised his batting average from .091 to .333. :D 2 RBIs, 2 RS, SB. And he made a couple of nice plays again at 3B.

RP L. Hagerty .1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 0/2
Plus he hit a batter. He retired one batter out of five faced. His ERA is now, as Steve Stone would put it, a robust 22.24.

I have more interest in him than normal since he played at my alma mater, Ball State. It's sad seeing him struggle so much after his pro career got off to such a great start before he had TJS.
