Kerry will be making his first career relief appearance next half inning.

Talk about baptism by fire. Not making it any better by delivering 2 balls to Cliff Floyd.

To his credit, he got Floyd to pop out to Aramis.

True, but he's having problems hitting his spots again. That drives me nuts.

You honestly think they care? Maybe Lee, but I have my doubts about the rest of them. The only people who are getting a helping of humility are Cub fans.

That's one way to think about it but I think he's a gamer. He decided to forgo his ego and pitch out of the 'pen when he could have asked to be shut down.

Kerry was getting squeezed (or rather not getting the Calls Glavine was getting)

Worse of all Ball 4 to Wright was MUCH better than Strike 1 to Piazza.

Wow, down by 5 and they come out swinging early in the count. -

Nomar will always swing at the first or second pitch. I think a team can live with one or maybe two guys like that in a lineup, but not six or seven.

I wasn't singling him out. He and Burnitz both decided to ground out early. Macias saw more pitches than both of them combined.

Oh I know you weren't singling him out. That's why I said you can't have six or seven guys who love to swing early in the count in the same lineup. A lot of people blame Dusty's philosophy on this, but if you check out the guys we get, they have a history of being hackers and not able to work deep into counts.

Regarding the Brewers, my pride doesn't want them passing us up. But as a baseball fan I hope they do. I can't think of five of their players not living up to expectations...even their young guys. On the other hand, I can only think of maybe five on our team who have.

Sure would be nice if the Cubs got that inside call Glavine just got.

Yes, but you know that if you're wild early, can't set up things like that.

Well, I gotta get outta here. Go PHILLIES!!!! Please stop our runaway train descent into the cellar.

Wood is injury prone but how can you argue that he wants to be hurt or doesnt want to pitch? The guy's heart can't be measured by physical limitations. I'm sure he'd love to make 30+ starts a year.
