I didn't watch the game at all, but the highlights I saw on Sportscenter showed Tony complaining about two pitches in back to back innings. One, was a high fastball to Edmonds and the other was a fastball to Rodriguez. The Sportscenter hightlight showed LaRussa yelling at the Florida pitcher and then at LaDuca.

The pitch to Edmonds was high and tight, but it looked like he was bunting. I was always told when I played to throw up and in when someone bunts. Rodriguez's pitch was also in, but it looked about letter high, not head high.

Did I miss something before (ESPN sometimes leaves things out that lead up to situations) that made Tony upset?

Maybe this is just my dislike toward TLR, but why did he or was he yelling at the two Florida players?

Can someone that saw the game fill me in?

The box score also says that Carpenter hit a guy...did this have somthing to do with it. By the way, Carpenter threw a helluva game again.

It just looked like Tony was trying to protect his guys because the pitches were up and in. Tony dosent like pitches at the head and has even reprimanded his own pitchers for throwing up and in. Carpenters hbp didnt have anything to do with it, it was a slow curve that got away and hit the guy in the butt. I dont think either of Villones pitches were intentinally either they just got away on both of them.

The Marlins had already hit three batter nothing on purpose IMO, but at a certain point I think the manager has to say something just so his players know he's going to do whatever possible for them. Carp hit a batter after all the Cards had been hit. It was a big breaking ball that hit him down around the waste. This looked to me to be unintentional as well. but who knows. Could be intresting tonight.

Like I said, I didn't see the game, just wanted to get the details straight.

So it seemed all of the pitches were UNintentional in the opinions of the peopel that saw the game.

By the way, I still don't like TLR!!!

Fair enough. I guess after 3 guys get hit, I would expect something said. But I still don't know what his beef was with the Floriday players. Talk to the umps if there is a problem. Were the first 3 guys hit by Willis? I know the guy that threw up and in on Edmonds and Rodriguez was not Willis, I think it was Villone???

Like I said, I just wanted to see if Tony had a point this time (my Tony dislike is coming out) or if he was just whining to hear himself. Seems Tony really had a legit complaint.

The first 2 were by Willis they were the first 2 guys he faced. Him and LoDuca got into it because he was talking to the ump by home and it looked like maybe Tony said something to Villone. Then LoDuca got in and started saying stuff to Tony so they jawed at each other a little bit.

Well said, Reggie. As for whether they were intentional or not, the manager has to do or say something. And I don't think Jimmy was bunting in that position if my memory serves me correct. It appeared the pitcher just could not find his control. Even if a guy is wild he better not be wild up and in after a couple of players have already been plunked. At that point the team getting hit does not care if it is intentional or not. (At least that is how I felt as a player)

I could be wrong...but it looked like Edmonds was squared around to bunt. Which makes no sense bunting Edmonds, but I thought it looked like he was squaring around. I think on Sportcenter they actually said it was a foul ball and that it hit his bat. Then again, I watched the re-run of Sportcenter at like 9 this morning, so I could be wrong.

Again, after getting hit 3 or 4 times, I guess Tony has a legit complaint. I also agree Wizard that eventually you don't care if it was intentional or not. I think there is a big difference though if you get hit with a fastball at the feet, a curveball in the butt, and a slider off the knee caps as opposed to three fastballs in the back.

No you were right, Edmonds was bunting, I dont know why he was but he was. He did foul it off .

I believe you that he was bunting. I guess memory is the first thing to go.

I don't know why I would be surprised. Edmonds does that from time to time. (bunt for no reason!)

Morris is up tonight, so if there are any lingering feelings at all, fools are gonna get popped. If he doesn't bean anyone, then it was nothing more than a few pitches that got away.

LaRussa was hit in the head with a pitch when he was a player and so he has a hair trigger over pitches around the head. That is why he seems to or does overreact about pitches up & in.

(Insert reference to Morris throwing at Lee's head last year here)

Seriously though, I don't care about that^.
