Just got home from Cooperstown, and on the flight out of Albany there were 4 HOFers and Andy MacPhail. Pretty cool.

I spoke briefly with MacPhail, recap:

-He hopes Lawton is a spark, b/c we "definitely need a shot in the arm."

-Lots of players were readily available, but the asking prices were "ridiculous" Did not specify.

-Looking to have a solid core of guys healthy for this season and build on it for next. Didn't say who the core was, did say we weren't "mailing this season in"

Anyway, that was about it. Kinda general but I figured I would share.

It was nice because I was the only guy who recognized him so it probably looked just like two regular guys having a conversation.

Awesome report. I guess I could understand MacPhail's comments about the "asking prices were ridicilious." If I recall correctly, it was mentioned on (I think it was) BBTN where the A's were asking the Red's about Dunn, and the Red's GM said that he wanted Harden, other than that, there is nothing to discuss. Not to mention that TB's ownership was the same way. The top 2 prospects for a certain player. Not many other GM's will make that type of a deal.

BBTN had a "Worst Trade Offers" segment a couple of nights ago. They only had a couple, but one was that the Indians called Seattle about Guardado and Seattle wanted Sizemore from Cleveland. I don't remember the other. And of course, we all know about the Baez for Zambrano offer.

They went on to say, that once a team makes that kind of offer, what's the next step? Usually it's hanging up the phone, but what would you say if you call them back? "Sorry, we don't want to trade Sizemore, but we'll offer two good pitching prospects for Guardado." How would the other team (in this case seattle) take that offer when they were just asking for a top prospect?

Which 4 hall of famers?

Al Kaline, Orlando Cepeda, Paul Molitor, Kirby Puckett.

MOlitor was hungover, Puckett was kinda rude, Kaline was awesome and Cepeda was funny.

Really cool

Rude as in he tried to grope you in the airplane lavatory?

Haha. No, he was fine to me, but I am not an autograph hound. I spoke to him real quick, but people who wanted autographs got a taste of his rudeness.

*shrug*
