Blurb in the Trib this morning, citing the LA Times as their source:

If Jim Tracy is fired, Dusty wants the gig. According to the story, he's putting the word out to his friends to help generate buzz.

Why don't we just trade Dusty for Tracy and call it good?

Nevermind that: how about Dusty for Sgt. Pornstache, straight up?

I'd do Dusty for Edwin Jackson.

i'd do dusty for darren dreifort.

Anyone think Jim Tracy may be on the way out? The Dodgers thus far have been underwhelming in a very weak NL West, although they have been bitten by the injury bug.

Still, the thought of Dusty Baker in Dodger blue might be enough for management to take a pass on Tracy's 2006 option.

i thought i'd heard several times that tracy would be fired if the dodgers did not make the playoffs this year.

BUMP

Gammons on ESPN Radio responding to a question from Mike Greenberg on whether Dusty will return next season:

"I don't know." Thanks Peter! He went on to give the usual "Dusty excuses" about how much bad luck they have had w/ injuries, etc. Greenberg caled him on it, saying that they have been disappointing.

Next asked whether L.A. is a possibility for Dusty. Gammons said DePodesta would probably have to be gone for that to happen b/c he and Dusty are opposites in terms of baseball philosophy. At least Gammons got that part right.

BUMP again:

ESPN Insider article today on Jim Leyland being ready to return to the bigs. One current manager whom we all respect has thisto say about Leyland:

"Handling pitching? A-plus," La Russa said. "Handling an offense, using imagination and not afraid to go against the book? A-plus. Understanding the organization as far as developing players? A-plus. Representing the organization at a hospital or function? A-plus. Dealing with the media? A-plus. Handling a rookie, handling a veteran? A-plus."

Sounds good to me. Or at least better than the current situation.
