Cubbies sit three games out of the wildcard with PLENTY of games against Houston. (10ish) I feel lucky enough to have our boys in this position. This is still our year.

No doubt the Cubbies still have a shot, but if they continue to play.500 ball they're not going to be in the WC hunt for much longer.

Assuming Nomar comes back and contributes like we know he can, and Hendry pulls the strings and gets us another big bat and/or some middle relief help, I think we (along with Houston) would be battling for the Wild Card.

If neither of those pan out, I do not believe we have the make up to win more than 85-89 games.

That having been said, firing Dusty Baker could possible be the key to getting the most most out of the personnel we have right now. Unfortunately, Hendry won't fire Dusty during the season, so we better hope that we get some outside help before the trade deadline.

Mark Prior is pretty awesome.

Tell me something I don't know.

The Aztecs didn't use the wheel in their day to day life--even when they had to haul huge stones to build their pyramids. But that's not because they didn't understand the concept of the wheel. Many toys made for Aztec children had wheels on them. For some reason, though, they chose not to incorporate it on a larger scale.

^ If that's true, its the best non-baseball post I've read here. Both for the smart-arsedness of the thing itself and for the juicy information contained within.

Aren't they 13-6 since the series before the All-Star Break?

Now I'm no math major but....

True, but they are not playing .500 ball. Since the All Star break, they've won 3 out of 4 series...and split 1.

Post of the year. And I'm not kidding. Seriously that was the best post of the year. Humor doesn't come placed that well anymore.

As far as I know, it's true. It was in a book I used to have on them.
