I touched on this in the poll about our LF situation, but I really think that Gerut should be out there against RHP. Here's his career line against right handers: .290/.355/.492/.847. Add in above average defense, the name Jody, and I don't know what else you could want in a platoon situation! So who's on board?

I've been on board with this idea since we aquired him.

I'd like it better than Hollandsworth, but we all know Dusty and it isn't going to happen. He's going to keep playing Hollandsworth and when he finally does something good Dusty is gonna say see he's my guy for a reason, ignoring the fact that playing him every day could have lost us 4 of the last 7 games or something like that.

Personally I'd like to see Murton get some games against righties so we know what he is capable of. Against tough righties Gerut would be fine, but Murton was the stud of our famr system this season so I'd like to know if he can be a potential every day player for us in the near future. But like I said I would take Gerut any day of Worthless.

I think Gerut should be playing CF and Murton in LF while having Hairston and Holla on the bench.....no platoon only rest the starters when they need it.

I agree with murton starting in left. The only hesitation I have with Gerut is that he is recoverring from knee surgery and, by his own estimation, about 75%; so, I just don't know about his playing center, but he did make one heck of a catch in left today.

The real answer is to deal Hollandsworth to someone with an urgent left field need (and who could use a bench player as well later). Hello Boston. Maybe we can fleece you out of the next Matt Murton

Assuming you don't get Manny Ramirez back, then you start Murton in left at least 75% of the time, and give Gerut some starts gainst righties.

This is exactly what Hendry says, make the team better now and in the future. It lets the future play now, and it gets ourselves a chip for the future.
