I agree that the Yanks aren't compatible with our needs, but let's figure out a 3-team or 4-team trade. The Yankees are really desparate for starting pitchers (Rusch, Mitre, or Williams), like Patterson (according to thr rumors), and have nothing at AAA. It looks like we have a lot to offer the Yanks, but short of Sheffield I don't see much that we want from them. Get those creative minds working.

Maybe a 3rd team would have to get invovled.

I see one player we want from the Yanks, Hideki Matsui

I'd take Matsui, ARod or Jeter. None are likely available anytime soon, though.

From what I've heard Matsui is untouchable.

I like the idea of sending CPatt to the Yanks for something useful. I just don't see anything really useful that the Yanks might have for us. I'm gonna have to agree with some others that a third or fourth team would be necessary.

Also, why does everyone want to get rid of Walker? Do we have more amazing 2nd basemen that I don't know about?

I was wonder as well why everyone wants to get rid of Walker..He can hit and we need that and he's perfect in the #2 slot..His defense has been good too (except in extra innings against the Nats)

It's not that people want to get rid of Walker, just that the Cubs have to be able to get something out of the deal. Patterson doesn't have much trade value right now, but combined with Walker, they could bring back a decent package. Walker has the playoff experience that the Yanks would value. However, I wouldn't do it unless a 3rd team was involved. I don't want their mediocre prospects. My original trade proposal had the Cubs sending Patterson and Walker to the Yanks, a couple of pitchers to the Reds, and getting Dunn and a Yanks pitching prospect.

I'd be happy to send the Yanks Patterson though, Rusch too, sounds like a plan. Give me Eric Duncan and Colter Bean back in exchange, please. I'll use both as currency in my trade package for Carlos Lee.

there's no way milwaukee is trading carlos lee to anybody, let alone the chicago cubs

Plus, Carlos Lee isn't really that good. He's barely better than Jeromy Burnitz this year....and that's with Lee having a huge power year (ISOP nearly 40 points higher than recent years of his career). Take out Lee's already career high 6 intentional walks and his below average .334 OBP for a middle of the order hitter is even worse.

I like Walker too much to have to cheer against him as a Yankee.

I could never be a GM. I'm too sentimental.

And I say hang on to him. Resign him this offseason.

although i do think carlos lee has been a bit overrated this year, i think he's been significantly better than burnitz. he's slugging about 50 points higher, and i think that for the most part, their OB% has been around the same mark the majority of the season.

C'mon, Sheffield is a punk, who'd want that jerk?? Ask your friends in Milwaukee and Los Angeles what they think of old Sheff.

Why Carlos Lee? He's got a bunch of RBI this year, but his numbers on the whole don't suggest paying through the roof to get him(.268/.340/.528).

I'd trade for him just to keep him from ever facing Cubs pitching again. The guy absolutely murders us year after year.
