The guy should quit baseball and be an actor.

That way Kevin Costner will have a successor.

From Jayson Starks' recent article:

It may not seem that hard to count to three. But in back-to-back weeks in June, two different Astros -- Lance Berkman and Jason Lane -- forgot how many outs there.

Lane's miscalculation caused a real mess, since he tossed what he thought was an inning-ending fly ball into the stands and allowed a run to score. Berkman at least was a little more surreptitious about his snafu. After making a diving stop at first base on a ground ball down the line, he took a long time getting up and then staggered toward the dugout, as if he'd just reinjured his knee. The trainer even sprinted out to check on him.

Turned out, he confessed to the Houston Chronicle's Jesus Ortiz, "that was me thinking there were three outs when there was really two. So then I had to come up with something, and that's what it was: The old trick-knee routine. Works every time."

I'd also like to remind everyone about his fake beaning stunt against the Cubs last year. IIRC, Mike Remlinger wanted to eat him alive after that incident.

Edmonds should probably go with Berkman to Hollywood. Edmonds has been fooling many baseball people for years when he leaves his feet when most CF's stay on their feet & make those plays routinely. Edmonds is the most overrated defensive player in MLB.

I was sitting in the terrace seats behind home when Berkman's bat was hit and if he did get hit in the head, he must be a real blockhead, because all we heard was the sound of the ball hitting wood, not batting helmet plastic. What a total tool! Yes, Rem was justifiably p.o.'d by that stunt. As good a player as he is, I lost all respect for him as a person after that.

He most definately did NOT get hit in the head...the replayed proved it and I believe Berkman said something that indicated he didn't get hit...something along the lines of it happened so fast and that's why he fell and reached for his head.
