West Tenn: LHP Sean Marshall (0-1, 3.18 ERA) @ RHP Josh Johnson (7-4, 4.46 ERA)

Peoria: RHP Grant Johnson vs. RHP Mark Lowe & RHP Aaron Jensen (piggy-backing)

Boise: RHP Mitch Atkins

Sorry for no stats for Peoria and Boise. My computer that can load the stats from BA or MILB.com is completely screwed up, this computer can't view the stats pages from those sites.

Sweet. I thought I'd see Matt Weber tonight since he would have gone Friday, but looks like I'll get to see Grant Johnson pitch for the first time instead.

Montanez will be going to the Futures Game, so he won't be available this weekend. Chiefs have an open roster spot (taken for one day by Rich Hill) and are carrying 12 pitchers right now, so, unless there's been a roster move, they'll be down to 11 position players in a DH league for the weekend.

Bobby Dickerson left for Detroit to take part in the futures game. You kids may want to tune iin to hear who is the interm skipper for the Jaxx...

Did I just hear Grady Little!?!

I was hoping that Ron was Managing tonight! I put a thread up on the main Minor League forum page for the folks that don't read the box/discussion pages.

Marshall has really settled down after the first inning. He gave up that run quickly but is in a groove right now.

A disaster 5th inning for Grant. He gives up 6 runs (1 earned). His final line:

4.2 IP, 5 hits, 7 runs, 2 earned, 3 walks, 3 strikeouts, 1 HR

And the Jaxx get robbed. Aardsma with a leadoff walk and then hits the next batter who swung around. The first base umpire said that he did not go, so the winning run comes to the plate with nobody out.

Hill goes down looking on a "nasty slider." 3 pitches, 1 out.

They can't turn two on the slow chopper and the throw from Theriot gets by Micah. Tying run moves up to second as a run scores.

2-out walk puts the winning run on base.

Basehit up the middle and the game is tied at 3.

Inning over. Free baseball as Aardsma blows the save on just one hit.

Marshall's final line:

8 IP, 2 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, 8 strikeouts

There's Aunt Florence!

Jose Reyes takes a chunk out of the scoreboard and the Diamond Jaxx regain the lead. 4-3 in the 10th.

They should send Pawelek on up to Peoria. I wouldn't mind.

He's still clearly on a limited pitch count. I have no problem with the Cubs keeping Pawelek down in Mesa for the remainder of the season so he can improve his game and iron out his mechanics as much as possible.

He may see Boise at some point this season, but Peoria is just unrealistic, imo.

Shipman dominates in the 10th, striking out the final two batters after a ground out, and the Jaxx win 4-3.

I agree. There's no reason to rush him yet. Let him stay either at Mesa or Boise. Start him at Peoria next season, and if all goes well maybe he finishes 2006 at Daytona.

Ron may be donating something to the auction. You better jump at it, DJAXX!

I didn't catch it, what was it?

He said to tune in tomorrow to find out. He has to make sure it's okay, though.

Hmmm, I bet it'll be something good. This auction was mentioned on the Jaxx website. Here's what it says about the auction:

The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx are proud to announce that a Silent Auction to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) will be held during the game on Saturday, July 16, 2005. The auction will run from 6:00 p.m. until the end of the seventh inning. Jaye Dunn, wife of Jaxx pitching coach Alan Dunn, has taken a special interest in JDRF, and is taking an active role in the fundraiser.

This is an exciting opportunity for fans to bid on such items as autographed Cubs and Diamond Jaxx memorabilia, a night in the First Tennessee Rental Suite, and lunch or a lesson with a Diamond Jaxx player or coach.

All monies collected during the Silent Auction will go directly to JDRF, whose scientific and clinical research is aimed toward finding a cure for Type 1 (insulin-dependent) diabetes. Typically, more than 80 cents out of every dollar donated goes directly to research.

So taking into consideration what the money is for and taking into consideration who the organizer of the event it, I'm confident that there will be some good stuff.

Are you going to that game?

If I do not go I have someone that will be there that can bid for me, at least that's the tentative plan.

So let me get this straight, Grady Little doesn't leave Marshall in too long, and his closer blows the lead for him. The guy just can't win can he?
