There are a few threads regarding coachs to replace Baker if he ever gets fired. I would like to see Joe Girardi at the helm.

As for Hendry... Anyone who nets D. Lee and Ramirez in the last few years has job security.

I'd take Beane in a second if he were available.

We've seen what a math-oriented guy with a budget can do in Boston.

Hendry is going to bring in all these young guys because he knows Dusty won't play them and when he doesn't he is going to fire Baker and bring Brenly down from the booth to manage and then bring Stone back to the booth...............seriously.

Is it legal to offer a job to someone involved in a different organization for an interim basis?

If Baker were fired during the season, I'd like to see how Carlos Tosca would do for about half a season.

He's currently the 3rd base coach on a different team. I don't know what the cons were in Toronto that got him fired, but I always thought he was a decent manager from a neutral perspective.

IMO, Baker is going nowhere until his contract is up.

The latest moves reflect Hendry's touch. He usually lets Baker run the lineup/games, but I believe he has stepped in and forced Baker's hand.

It needed to be done.

Baker isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he is smart enough to do what he's told by his boss.

Sorry fellas, but Baker will finish his contract with the Cubs. After that, who knows....

I think Maddux should be a player/manager/pitching coach. Sure it's a big load to put on him, but if anyone can handle it it's him.
