As we fall out of the race, let's use this opportunity to get better for next season. I see that possibility as we try to trade with Atlanta and pick up some good young talent. Tear this one up if you will:

 

Trade Derrick Lee, Ryan Dempster and Glendon Rusch to the Braves

 

Braves send us a bunch of young talent from this group of players and maybe more I have forgotten about:

 

Adam LaRoche

Wilson Betemit

Ryan Langerhans

Macay McBride

Kyle Davies

Roman Colon

Jeff Francoeur

 

I hate to trade Derrick Lee, but if we can get solid pieces to help us going into next year, I would do it in a second. What Atlanta pieces fit our needs for next season? What holes can we fill in dealing with them?

 

See what kind of ideas we get on this thread other than how stupid it would be to trade Lee.

Trade Lee with and I'm done with this team for life. Trade one of the few on the team that has a clue offensively. To contend next year there is no one that we can get that will match Lee, either at the plate or on Defense where he makes everyone around him better. Maybe next year if we fall out and have no intention of resigning him, but not this year.

I'm leery of trading with Atlanta. They never seem to give up anything particularly useful.

 

As far as selling players, I'd see what Burnitz, Dempster, Rusch, Mitre, Remmy, Perez, Walker and Hollandsworth could net us from a contender. That is, of course, if we'd be selling (which I'm not prepared to do at this point).

Third off, I don't think the Braves even think about this deal.
