I know its not a reliable source, but 2 members of Yahoo said in a chatroom said that the Reds rejected an offer that would send Corey to Cincy for Austin Kearns. Did anyone hear this or have a reaction? Edited by Rondon Fan

if they did deny Corey for Kearns, it shows how much Corey's value is dropping. I'm not putting much stock into this seeing it was brought up in a chat room.

Well, 1 person brought it up and another person said "ya I saw that"

I asked where they saw it and got no answer

Exactly what has been the knock on Kearns the past couple of years (other than the injuries)? It seemed like he was going to be a superstar then faded just as quickly. I guess Ankiel is too fresh in my mind.

Weight issues were the other concern with him; although they've been a by-product of the injuries since he can't get into proper shape as long as he has said injuries.

I'm hesitant to bring any of his character into question due to the fact that the Reds' front office is utterly incompetent, their management is a joke, and the clubhouse has had some utterly bizarre incidents throughout the year. It could be that he's a jerk, but it could also be that the Reds' organization is giving him a bad rep.

If that's true thats just sad. We could have gotten the world for him in 2003

To be honest the Corey Cartel would have crashed this board had we traded him for anything in 2003, even two years later the blame will be on Dusty not on Corey for his failure to do anything but defense which has seemed to slip this season. A lot of us thought the backlash of the Choi for Lee was way overboard and he was a productive young proven first baseman with speed , gold glove and power.
