Shaw is cruising in AA and will likely be promoted to Iowa sooner rather then later.

Vazquez is off to a great start in Iowa

My question is, would it be crazy to think both could be up at some point this season with the cubs ?

Shaw to take over 3B and Vazquez getting his AB rotating through 2B, SS, and 3B to give the regulars days off kinda like Tauchman was doing with the OFers.

Morel could go back to DH or maybe used in a trade to net a SP

Bench/DH could be improved with Morel  and Vazquez added to it with Amaya, Wisdom , and whomever is the 4th OFer.

Vazquez feels unlikely to be with the MLB team unless there's a significant change like a long-term injury. His ability to play SS would help his odds on most rosters, but not one with Swanson and Hoerner as middle infield starters.  He doesn't profile well enough with the bat to be a reasonable 3B option, and he hits RH which there are numerous other options in front of him.

As for Shaw, his performance will dictate that, but 1) he's likely to have adjustments to make at Iowa 2) there's no need to throw Morel to the curb or create roster scarcity that doesn't need to exist.  Maybe things go well and he knocks down the door, but from a MLB-focused lens it's easier to pretend Shaw doesn't exist until after the trade deadline.

I think Zach Neto is the obvious parallel to Shaw if we decided to race him up to MLB in the next few weeks.  He was more solid than impactful last year, and looks this year like he might be paying the price for more or less skipping the minor leagues.  With Morel settling in at 3B I don't see a need to race Shaw up here.

Vazquez despite his hot streak probably doesn't add much beyond Madrigal.  I think he's a sweetener in a trade not someone who will get much time with the Cubs short of injury.
